Kids & Work. February 15, 2015. Using Architectural Salvage to Beautify Your Home and Save Money. Ur house has been alive for 99 years. We love its wood windows, alligatored paint, and creaking floorboards. However, a house doesn’t always age gracefully. Things are always breaking down, and updates made over the years can detract from its original character. As I looked over the house with the inspector, I was already thinking that it would be fun to make repairs using parts salvaged from old houses.

It was in the scraps section, and it was only $5 a yard. A steal! I was happy. I got 1.75" yards but really probably only needed a yard. It is good quality fabric, so - Score! It's a Mondrion-esque piece (Sort of) that is really large - I think it's 60x32 or something? Lastly, here is a canvas I did for my sister i...

Johnson’s Flower and Garden. This just in from my friend, Heather. Uncommon Goods has a neat Barn Board Floor Mat. A bargain at $40! The interesting thing is that it looks like rustic barn wood, but it's actually fade resistant, photo realistic polyester. Who woulda guessed? Thanks for the tip Heather! Ooooo I love this!

Jul 23, 2009. Not Your Grandmother's Wallpaper! Wallpaper has come a long way. It’s not just floral and small over the top patterns anymore. You can find wallpaper that is textured, geometric, foiled, and painted. If you tend to run the other direction you’re not alone! Just start small like in a powder room with something fun and unexpected. The great thing about wallpaper is you can go bold and beautiful or simple yet sweet. Image Courtesy of Pottery Barn.
