For you and your Baby! In-Home or Office Visits. After Birth Visits at Hospital. Primarily focused on educating the expectant mother on breastfeeding. Following the birth of your baby this consult includes education on breastfeeding, latch assessment, nipple assessment, positions and more. 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Follow-up consultations are done after the standard post-partum consult has been completed on an as-needed basis. 30 minutes to 1 hour. Not a Meta Tag, but required anyway.

During my career as a registered nurse, helping women learn the art of breastfeeding became a specialty I was drawn to, which led to earning the certification of CLC (Certified Lactation Counselor) followed by the certification of IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant).

For you and your Baby! When is the best time to begin breastfeeding? Immediately following delivery, as long as both the mother and infant are stable, is the best opportunity to begin breastfeeding. With a vaginal delivery the infant should be placed skin to skin immediately to initiate breastfeeding. With a cesarean section delivery, skin to skin should be initiated as soon as the mother is stabilized. How do you know if the baby is getting enough to eat?
