The life of a working mum. On September 5, 2010 by laurawolfe. Yesterday we travelled back from Paris by train. Eurostar to Kings Cross and. Then Euston to Manchester. It took around 6 hours door to door. The previous Saturday, my husband Anthony, and a team of determined and rather insane cyclists, left Blackpool Tower for what would be a 600 mile charity ride to the Eiffel Tower. It took 6 days. They spent about 50 hours in the saddle in the wind, rain and sun. Posted in being a mum. He is growing up&#...

Things I have learnt this week and it’s only Wednesday… | The Broody Years

https://thebroodyyears.wordpress.com/2010/09/15/things-i-have-learnt-this-week-and-its-only-wednesday

The life of a working mum. Laquo; Le Tower2Tower. Tomorrow’s the Big day. Things I have learnt this week and it’s only Wednesday…. I can manage 30 hours without my mobile phone (difficult and I bit all the skin around my nails, but I did not actually die so everyone’s a winner). Sometimes running your own business is especially hard. Sometimes I need a wife. Sometimes life is just hard. Oh and lastly, the weather in Manchester is beyond rubbish. Have a great rest of week all. Feed You can leave a response.

Do you want to know what I had for lunch? Me: Yes, what did you have for lunch? Natan: Carrots, potatoes, tuna, and gravy. You are commenti...

Headstretcher: Headlands to headspace

http://headstretcher.blogspot.com/2011/08/headlands-to-headspace.html

Monday, 1 August 2011. Earlier this year we (Creative Concern) were lucky enough to work with the Morecambe Bay Partnership. And our good friend and collaborator James Rebanks. On the Partnership's Heritage Lottery Fund bid 'Headlands to Headspace'. Today it's been officially announced that they've won the bid and have been allocated £2 million through the Landscape Partnership. Would be a good idea. Humphrey Head by Jon Sparks. Finally, the Headlands to Headspace project wouldn't have come off unless it...

Headstretcher: fab // graphene

http://headstretcher.blogspot.com/2011/10/fab-graphene.html

Monday, 3 October 2011. Am more than a little obsessed about the opportunities offered by graphene and Manchester's very own Nobel prize laureates. Now it looks like they may be the anchor of a global R&D hub which I suspect will also be dead important for Manchester's low carbon stuff. Anyway here's the story:. 163;50m boost for University of Manchester's Nobel prize-winning work on 'wonder material' graphene Manchester Evening News - menmedia.co.uk. Working mother UK: March 2009

http://workingmotheruk.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html

Saturday, 14 March 2009. I am happy to report that last night Supernanny prevailed and order has been restored amongst the chaos. My faith in the future after the "terrible twos" has been re-newed. Currently, naptime is underway and I am enjoying the peace, quiet and sunshine. Enough of that - back to the list of chores! Friday, 13 March 2009. Thank God she is not like the brat on Supernanny tonight! It is almost like watching The Exorcist. Is this what I have to look forward to in the future? Another br...

In the Journal of Epidemiology and Health shows that children of working mothers are much more likely to be couch potatoes and eat junk food. Headstretcher: Vertical farming in Manchester

http://headstretcher.blogspot.com/2011/07/vertical-farming-in-manchester.html

Sunday, 17 July 2011. Vertical farming in Manchester. I've just emerged from chairing the sold-out Vertical Farm. Event at Manchester International Festival. We officially unveiled the 'Alpha Farm' project which will seek to transform a disused office block in Wythenshawe into a fully-functioning vertical farm. Supremely exciting and there are loads more details on our Alpha Farm blog. The star turn today though, was the amazing and inspiring Dr. Dickson Despommier. Forestry and Green Infrastructure.

Headstretcher: April 2013

http://headstretcher.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html

Tuesday, 23 April 2013. A few years back my company was accused by a deeply misguided business journalist as not operating in the 'real economy'. Our focus on social goals, environmental issues and arts and culture clearly got him riled. He saw the impending age of austerity and public sector cuts as a signal that an agency like ours would be certain to fail. So it's time to establish more clearly the new communications. There’s gossip, chatter with friends or colleagues and keeping up with family ...
