The Brouhaha Brief: December 2014
http://thebrouhahabrief.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Review: A Lady Awakened. My rating: 3 of 5 stars. I'm not much of a romance reader these days, but the review of this one at Smart Bitches, Trashy Books caught my eye. The conceit was interesting: a widow attempting to circumvent the primogeniture laws in England by paying a notorious rake to get her pregnant in the wake of her husband's death. Terrible cover. If I'm going to read anymore romances, I really need them as e-books. View all my reviews. Tuesday, December 30, 2014. My Favorite Things of 2014*.
The Brouhaha Brief: May 2014
http://thebrouhahabrief.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html
Review: Me Before You. My rating: 5 of 5 stars. I'm so sad my stomach hurts. I read the last 50ish pages with my hand clapped over the lower half of my face, holding in the denial I could feel building inside of me at the ending of the book. You can see it coming, but there's nothing you can do to stop it. View all my reviews. Friday, May 30, 2014. Review: Dreams of Gods and Monsters. Dreams of Gods and Monsters. My rating: 5 of 5 stars. But let's talk about this book. View all my reviews. I can't say I'...
The Brouhaha Brief: Breaking Radio Silence--On Losing My Dad
http://thebrouhahabrief.blogspot.com/2015/04/breaking-radio-silence-on-losing-my-dad.html
Breaking Radio Silence- On Losing My Dad. I've been seriously absent, both from this blog and from my goals, basically since I set them back at the first of the year. I have a good reason, Life seriously interfered with me this time around. Do you want to hear a dirty joke? It was cancer, not just a bleeding hemorrhoid. It had metastasized, but the doctor had a plan. It was inoperable because he was in kidney failure. He had three weeks or so to live. In a fairer world, my dad could have taken a handful ...
The Brouhaha Brief: November 2015
http://thebrouhahabrief.blogspot.com/2015_11_01_archive.html
I have opened the blog many times since April, and each time I see the post about my dad at the top of the page and I close the blog again. That post keeps drying up the words inside of me in a way that I cannot explain. I just need to scroll it down the page a little, so I don't relive it all over again every time I think I might like to blog. Love and miss you, Dad. I'm trying to do what you asked, and be okay. Some days, that's a lot easier said than done. Sunday, November 22, 2015. Year of the Cow.
The Brouhaha Brief: Review: People Who Eat Darkness: The Fate of Lucie Blackman
http://thebrouhahabrief.blogspot.com/2015/03/review-people-who-eat-darkness-fate-of.html
Review: People Who Eat Darkness: The Fate of Lucie Blackman. People Who Eat Darkness: The Fate of Lucie Blackman. By Richard Lloyd Parry. My rating: 4 of 5 stars. A meticulously researched crime novel, this book appeared on my radar several times in podcasts and articles about Western expats living in Japan. It's a grim look at how marginalized the people who try to work on a tourist visa in ANY country can become, since they feel they cannot turn to the police for help when they are victimized.

Notes about writing and other creative endeavours. Newer posts →. September 8, 2013. Sorry A little late this week. Stuff happened. Y’know.). The Dragon, The Wench, and Her Wardrobe. Lucinda pulled up outside Maddie’s apartment building and switched off her car. Maddie’s windows were dark, but that didn’t mean anything–the living room was on the other side of the two-story building, and if Maddie was kicking back after a stressful day, that’s where she’d probably be. Rew Paisley head-butted Lucinda’...

The Brouse House: Kam, Natalie, and Ezra
The Brouse House: Kam, Natalie, and Ezra. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Joshua 24:15. Wednesday, October 17, 2012. Baby Boy #2 Update. I'm 24 weeks pregnant with baby boy #2 and thought I'd write some things down so that I can remember them in the future. This baby's heartbeat has been a little slower (in the 150s) where Ezra's was in the 160s typically I believe. I've had less caffeine this time that's for sure! Ezra lets me get plenty of sleep at night so that is wonderful! Baby b...
