Email L.I.B. Thursday, March 29, 2007. One of my favorite urban photographers whose work I've explored online is the talented Nitsa. Her work focuses largely on New York, but she has ventured to many cities around the world, including Boston, and captured some stunning images of our beautiful city. Nitsa's idea of "non-photography," or photography without rules, has earned her much praise and support, and she has published several books of her work, including one describing her non-photography process.

Email L.I.B. Tuesday, March 20, 2007. The folks over at the wonderful website, Forgotten New York. Have a short but jam-packed page of Boston goodies. From old ads painted on the sides of buildings to a peculiar ten-foot-wide house, they've got a sampling of everything "forgotten" in Boston. Check out Forgotten Boston. For some great photos and some great ideas on some urban exploration trips of your own! PS - An update with photos from the last run of the LRV is coming. Stay tuned! The LRV: Beginning an...

Email L.I.B. The LRV: Beginning and End. Saturday, March 24, 2007. I've finally posted photos of the last run of the LRV on the Green Line. The photos are part of a new virtual exhibit at the Boston Transit eMuseum, entitled "The LRV: Beginning and End.". The exhibit explores documents and photos relating to the 1970's launch of the vehicles, from design specs to testing photos. I plan to also add video of the last run in the near future. You can check out the full exhibit at The Boston Transit eMuseum.

Email L.I.B. Tuesday, February 13, 2007. Welcome to "Lost in Boston," a blog though which I hope to "find" and expose Boston's hidden jewels, from parks to small businesses to remnants of yesterday. And if you've arrived from somewhere else on the web, be sure to check out my website and other blogs, at www.transithistory.org. The genre of public transportation history is actually quite similar to that of this blog. Posted byMike Prescott at 9:27 AM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Walk the [Red] Line.

Email L.I.B. Urban Exploration: The Watertown Branch. Sunday, April 15, 2007. Many people who live near and commute through Cambridge, Watertown, and Waltham have noticed potions of the essentially abandoned Watertown Branch railroad. Vanshnookenraggen PhotoBlog. Has an interesting series on the Watertown Branch, located here. Which includes decaying train tracks, puddles, bridges, and oodles of neat graffiti. Posted byMike Prescott at 3:02 PM. I'm Not "Lost" - Not Yet, Anyway. Thursday, April 12, 2007.

The MBTA Forum @ TH. Monday, June 4, 2007. Well, That was Disturbing! I'm a little thunderstruck at what I saw on the Red Line this morning: the doors closing before everyone had gotten off, and even closing on several people! It happened at Charles/MGH, at about 7:30 or so. I was on car 01625, at the back of the train. There are usually a lot of people who get off this subway at Charles; many look like they're on their way to work at MGH. There's usually no problem. It makes me wonder. T to Install Mist...

The MBTA Forum @ TH. Saturday, August 25, 2007. A pissed off MBTA rider. As I've stated at THE Forums @ Transithistory and at the MBTA Rail Operations forum at Railroad.net, I am not quite clear as the public isn't clear on the details of the man who jumped into the Orange Line tracks as was electrocuted. It is a touching situation for myself as I was (sort of) there. Now as a railfan, I was happy to actually be in a tunnel! The MBTA did not follow through with their responsibilities for an emergency sit...

The MBTA Forum @ TH. Monday, June 18, 2007. Do we really make a difference? I got a flyer this morning at Harvard Square asking (rhetorically, I presume, since there wasn't time to stop and talk):. Do we take you where you need to go? Do we get you there on time? How should we invest to ease the region's travel problems? Three of the workshops have already happened, in Braintree, Wakefield, and Roxbury (Has anyone been to one? That it would make a difference. Trouble is, Matisse. Massachusetts Bay Transp...

The MBTA Forum @ TH. Monday, June 18, 2007. I'm not the only one who has noticed the decline of the Kendall Band. The interactive musical sculpture by Paul Matisse. At Kendall/MIT. So has the artist- and he's put in a lot of very late nights to fix it, according to a story by Mac Daniel. Trouble is, Matisse. Is getting along in years. Understandbaly, he's worried about the future of the band. Understandably, the T says it has no money to kep it up:. Could accept donations and administer it? No, as far as...
