Musings from the marsh. Order Songs From The musings from the marsh. P. Sunday, October 30, 2011. Star Anise vs. Anise. In the world of natural herbs and spices, I would say a fairly common question would probably be, "Are Anise and Star Anise the same thing, or are they related? Left: star anise; Right: anise). Pot of melon and star anise jam.). Now to the culinary side of star anise. It is said that it was first brought to Europe in dried form by an English sailor. There seems to be a differenc...A pop...

Tuesday, August 24, 2010. It had been a loooooong time since I had ventured north to Nashville, TN. The last time was to visit my grandparents, so it was.the mid-80's. Man! It HAS been a long time. I wish the circumstances that took me there had been different. I addressed that in the previous entry. Better get to my trip observations before I get back into 'can't write mode'. As we exited Tennessee and entered back into Georgia, a major feature of the highway shoulders became more prevalent. The evi...

Thursday, July 22, 2010. It's a warm, sunny morning here in Savannah. The passing of the night was spent wide awake, and surfing the net. If it wasn't for the Internet, I'd have spent the night surfing the TV channels longing for something other than an infomercial. Oh well.another day has dawned, so moving right along. 42: Back to Music City...
http://chameleons42.blogspot.com/2010/09/back-to-music-city.html
Saturday, September 18, 2010. Back to Music City. No Do I think it's cool, and am I looking forward to having it? As for the above picture, it has absolutely nothing to do with Nashville. I went for a short walk to the mailbox, and took a detour down by the marsh. Saw a rather large grey heron (at least I think it's a heron.there are a lot of them around here) sitting on top of one of the decaying dock posts I photograph quite a lot. Monday, September 6, 2010. Don't think they'd act too kindly if they felt someone might be trying to horn in on their business. In addition to the prominently displayed bikinis and flags, I'm pretty sure they would have a variety of shirts, lighters, and belt buckles. Items for the discerning redneck. Gotta love the south. I expect they'll be back again since the gift giving holidays are just around the corner. Maybe next time I'll venture over for a peek.and some close-up shots. View my complete profile.

Monday, May 31, 2010. On This Last Monday of the Month. By: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918). In Flanders Fields the poppies blow. Between the crosses row on row,. That mark our place; and in the sky. The larks, still bravely singing, fly. Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago. We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,. Loved and were loved, and now we lie. Take up our quarrel with the foe:. To you from failing hands we throw. The torch; be yours to hold it high.

Musings from the marsh. Order Songs From The musings from the marsh. P. Sunday, May 3, 2015. A couple of days late, but still in time to wish everyone a beautiful Beltane and/or May Day. It's a time for renewal and fertile fresh beginnings. I know that most think of the fertility of this time to be meant in terms of animals and plants, but I look at it as prime time to cultivate fresh new ideas to start down some new paths. Blessings to one and all. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). To orde...
