The Fasting Atheist

July 19, 2015. July 19, 2015. A belated ‘Eid Mubarak’ to all my readers! I hope you have been having a fantastic time with your friends and family over the past couple of days. For my part, I had a fairly quiet Eid. I spent Friday at work, as normal. A colleague had tried to persuade me to ask for the day off for religious reasons, but I said that as I am the fasting. I didn’t feel that my case was particularly strong! Saturday. Makes sense thanks Boris! Muslim perspective, or one type of Islam. Not ...

Day Seven – The Fasting Atheist

https://thefastingatheist.wordpress.com/2015/06/24/day-seven

June 24, 2015. June 24, 2015. So – that’s it, seven days completed! I she is up every few hours to breast feed. The things our mothers do for us! I plan on reminding Iris of this when she is a moody teenager. It’s an intoxicant just like alcohol. But let’s leave that for another day). Today, at 2:30am, I was ready for him. I wrote ‘Ramadan Mubarak’ on my computer screen and started waving it at him like a crazy person. Given that I eat my. Aside from the fact that Ramadan is one of the five pillars of Is...

Islam and Atheism – The Fasting Atheist

https://thefastingatheist.wordpress.com/2015/07/02/islam-and-atheism

July 2, 2015. July 2, 2015. After seven days off, I am ready to rumble! Unfortunately that resolve proved difficult to replicate today. BBC Weather seemed to think that the temperature reached a high of 26 degrees today. I’m no meteorologist, but that doesn’t seem right to me! Walking outside makes you feel like your body and the hot air are just one mass of heat, seeping into each other. Inside, the windows of my room have been glued shut (thanks, your Majesty! Fair enough, each to their own! I am an at...

Natalya’s Story – The Fasting Atheist

https://thefastingatheist.wordpress.com/2015/07/17/natalyas-story

July 17, 2015. July 17, 2015. Over the past couple of weeks I have been pestering her to let me tell her story, and I wasn’t sure if she was very keen. We both found it hard to meet, given that we’re working and fasting at the same time and, in addition, where do you meet when you’re not eating or drinking? Tell me again what made you convert, because I really liked that story. It wasn’t just meeting your husband, was it? It was more than that. What did they teach you? Natalya: I had a friend of mine who...

Day Six – The Fasting Atheist

https://thefastingatheist.wordpress.com/2015/06/23/day-six

June 23, 2015. June 23, 2015. Today was a bit of a challenge. I was fine in that I was my normal pretty upbeat self, but physically my body seemed to be protesting slightly. Years of living and travelling abroad (particularly Ghana, Colombia and Pakistan) have really worked their magic on my body, and it served as a slight reminder to take it easy. But it was manageable; nothing I couldn’t handle. To have anything, that causes such desperation. How can Ramadan hope to compare with this? Only for a week.

Ouessants Large it up in rural France. November 13, 2013. Ida’s Diary entry #27. I know, I know it’s been too long and I have no excuses. Whilst I haven’t been blogging I have been busy eating grass, growing fat and growing my coat ready for winter. Inca’s coat has turned gingery/brown in the sun, Mum’s only a little and mine a little too. The chickens are increasing in number, there are the 6 chicks you saw in an earlier blog. They’re now nearly 9 weeks old and looking a bit cold today. A la prochaine,.

Ouessants Large it up in rural France. February 5, 2015. Ida’s Diary entry #33. Surprised you. I haven’t blogged since May 2014. There hasn’t been much to tell you. We got sheared, we frolicked and we chewed the cud. Life has been good, sometimes hot, sometimes wet and now look! Lucky we’ve grown our coats back. Our small owner reckons we look pregnant. The snow began to melt reasonably quickly so it wasn’t long before we found edible bits. As you can see, Inca is eating bark! That man who came to shear ...

Ouessants Large it up in rural France. Monthly Archives: November 2013. November 14, 2013. Ida’s Diary entry #28. Bonsoir, c’est moi. My smaller owner was out today and she took some photos of some of my relatives. I thought you’d like to meet them. That’s Orphan Annie. She’s 3 weeks older than me and she was blacker than me when she was born. Her mum was quite young and didn’t call her to feed, so she didn’t get fed as much as me. She’s about half my size now. Inca hasn’t got horns like this! Yes I mean...

Ouessants Large it up in rural France. Monthly Archives: August 2013. August 19, 2013. Ida’s dairy, entry #24. Yes, it’s been a while. I’ve not got a lot to tell you and our owners have had no internet at home since a violent storm 2 weeks ago. So, they’ve been going away to use the internet quite a bit and leaving us on our own. The cat found a snake earlier and was trying to eat it. Our big owner rescued it. He often rescues lizards, and frogs and toads from the cat, he’s very gentle. Ma vie en France.

Ouessants Large it up in rural France. June 17, 2013. Ida’s diary, entry #18. I thought I’d do a quick blog to tell you about yesterday. Those of you who have liked my Facebook page Ida’s Facebook page. Yesterday afternoon, our owners and the dog’s mum came out into our garden with a long pole. They stood underneath one of the trees poking it with the pole for about an hour. The dog came out too on his leash. He’s here again this morning, and I am hoping he stays at the front of the house. these are the fast times

These are the fast times. Thursday, 21 August 2014. This balance has weighed out our hearts desire. Self confessed- I'm bad at uni. I simply don't care enough about what this degree is going to get me. It's interesting- a pass time. But it's not something I can see a future in, in all honestly my degree is a very expensive piece of paper that is going to get me a work visa somewhere else in the world. Isn't everyone kind of drawn to the foul, the furious and the fucked up? Monday, 18 August 2014.
