Write In The Middle: Back at it

http://hawaiianrainforest.blogspot.com/2013/07/back-at-it.html

Write In The Middle. Thursday, July 25, 2013. The Spicy Hawaiian, a nod to my 808 connections. It's a brilliant combination of peppers and pineapple, a favorite on the Power Stop menu. I'm sure she'd have loved it, too. There's a bubbly beer with a lime in it. That's not a homage to anything. I just like beer. Where I work, initials rule. We scratch them on tickets and sheets of paper, line after line. I was here. These are my initials. Everywhere. Everyday. What do you think? This afternoon, I gave a yo...

Write In The Middle: September 2012

http://hawaiianrainforest.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html

Write In The Middle. Monday, September 10, 2012. I learned a new word a couple of weeks ago, hangin' wit' my California homey Gail in the big city of Denver. Our waitress at the Breckenridge Brewery was excruciatingly young. Literally, it made my joints ache and my jaw clench just to look at her. She was sweet, helpful and oh-so talkative, giving us directions to parks and bars. The word she taught us? Got it. Dank. Got it. Dank. Solitude is a curious thing, not to be confused with loneliness.

Write In The Middle: February 2013

http://hawaiianrainforest.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html

Write In The Middle. Thursday, February 28, 2013. This is my beautiful mom. She died last Sunday. For those who knew her, my heart breaks with you. For those who did not, here's an introduction to the best confidante, role model and mother a girl could hope for in life. This is the obituary I'd planned to submit to the local paper, but have opted instead to publish here. Her sense of humor was sometimes mischievous, always infectious. She was quick with a smile and kind word toward anyone, senior to ...

Write In The Middle: April 2013

http://hawaiianrainforest.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html

Write In The Middle. Saturday, April 06, 2013. Not yet all wet. Life is rigged. And boring. Seriously, I mean, you know the drill. Yes, living without running water has been inconvenient, and you'd think people would sympathize, but all they do is stare at my jugs. Everyone should go without water for a few days. She says, as though that were a real hardship. I imagine my Alaska friends splitting a gut over that. "A few days? Try it for a few months," they'd say. "Or years. Decades! Links to this post.

Write In The Middle: Dream visions

http://hawaiianrainforest.blogspot.com/2013/03/dream-visions.html

Write In The Middle. Monday, March 18, 2013. I'd done what I could to get there, to be there with her that Sunday evening, February 24th. I didn't make it. But I DID see her. When I landed in Portland hours later, I retrieved a message from Jim, her love and life partner. My mom had died. 7:58 pm. And the world spins on. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Write In The Middle: Honey! I'm Home!

http://hawaiianrainforest.blogspot.com/2014/12/honey-im-home.html

Write In The Middle. Wednesday, December 03, 2014. That brings us here, to this blog. It's been neglected, and yet, no cowbirds have moved in. It's not been paved over. The roof is intact. I miss your writing," said the last, lonely commenter. How can I stay away with encouragement like that? Here's what's kept me occupied:. Pipe dream: a saying inspired by the illusions experienced by opium smokers. It's good to be home. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Down in the Dirt Magazine, August 2011.

Write In The Middle. Monday, October 08, 2012. I realize this forthcoming statement makes me an anomaly among women, a freak if you will, but here goes: I HATE shopping! Clothes are the worst, especially pants. (Well, especially swimwear, but that's its own sordid, traumatic topic, not suited - ehem! For the annals of this blog.) Whatever happened to simple choices? Or are those the same thing? Tough enough to wear pink- briefs? Or a practical color, like brown? Links to this post. Links to great places.

Write In The Middle: This essay may blow, but there are no colons and the goose is far from cooked

http://hawaiianrainforest.blogspot.com/2013/08/this-essay-may-blow-but-there-are-no.html

Write In The Middle. Monday, August 05, 2013. This essay may blow, but there are no colons and the goose is far from cooked. Red sky at morning, geese take warning. This is a great essay. Food poisoning is awful. You can go to the doc and get meds for it. Do the geese mean early fall? Just wondering. Hot here in SF. Rewriting. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Don’t TALK about it… just DO it. From Rhonda Byrne today…. Write down all the great things about everyone you know. Make a huge list of all the wonderful things about you. Compliment people wherever you go. Praise every single thing you see. Be a ray of sunshine to everyone you meet, and make their day better for having seen you. Say “Thank you” at every turn. Walk, talk, think, and breathe appreciation and gratitude. When you do this, your outer life will change to reflect your inner state of being.

Infinite | I love Infinite – don't you?

I love Infinite – don't you? DIY Project (Hot Chocolate Marshmallows). This is almost a month late, but better late than never! Have been busy trying to catch up with schoolwork. And enjoying the holidays. But I’d really like to share this. Every year for Christmas, I make gifts for my closest group of friends. Unfortunately, the finished product in my head always outweighs the actual thing, which is incredibly sad, I know! Hot chocolate gift idea by Danni from oh, hello friend. Didn’t fit nicely i...
