Spatial Awareness | Newly in New York

Newly in New York. Learn something new everyday – a fortune cookie. There is not a day that goes by where I do not say Ow at least half a dozen times. I honestly don’t know how it happens. Here’s my theory: things just happen to be in my way and bump into me. I don’t know how else to explain it. I’m the person that trips when I’m walking down a very FLAT hallway. This becomes doubly awkward when someone witnesses me tripping over…nothing. D is always pointing this out after I inflict pain on myself.

Better late than never: Fall Foliage | Newly in New York

Newly in New York. Learn something new everyday – a fortune cookie. Better late than never: Fall Foliage. I feel like I’ve hit a blogger’s block (try saying that 10 times fast. Go! Nothing too crazy or funny or inspirational to report. Actually, as a follow-up to last week’s post, I am now sporting scratches on my right hand (after I biffed it in the snow/ice yesterday) and a burn on my left hand from the toaster this morning. Sigh. Life goes on. To get to Prospect Park from our apartment, we have to go ...

Why is there a Horse in the Sink? | Walla Walla Schroeders
https://wwschroeders.wordpress.com/2015/08/10/why-is-there-a-horse-in-the-sink
Why is there a Horse in the Sink? Posted by Samantha Schroeder. Asymp; 4 Comments. I don’t know. But somehow a horse wound up in our sink during a visit from my parents. We think it came from the garden and needed to be washed off. They came during another hot spell, so we didn’t do very much. I didn’t get very many pictures from their visit, but these few are the essence of what we did. Throughout the summer we’ve also been doing a lot of swimming and reading. Oh, and dog books:. Books | Walla Walla Schroeders

Welcome to my book list. I don’t get to read very much with two kids, but I have read quite a bit in my younger days, and still like to now when I get a chance. I hope to add to this list as books come to mind, or I discover new good reads. In no particular order, this is a list of the books that have particularly influenced me, or that I found particularly edifying. I highly recommend them. What do you think? What are some of your all-time favorite or influential books? Shadow of the Almighty. This is s...

Posted by Samantha Schroeder. Asymp; 2 Comments. October 31 came and went (thank goodness! We took part in the day with our usual dress-up, but that was as far as our celebrations went. We didn’t even carve a pumpkin this year, much to Hannah’s dismay. All three of the kids dressed up as superheros, inspired by Henry’s Christmas present last year. All I had to do was whip out two more capes and voilà the three amigos off to save the world. So the kids got their candy, and I got my pictures. We had such a...

Canker Sore Saga | Newly in New York

Newly in New York. Learn something new everyday – a fortune cookie. Well, here I sit with my lovely pumpkin spice latte and I am sufficiently ready to recount this recent ordeal in my life. I saw my primary doctor twice in 4 days because the numbers continued to grow, much to my alarm. My doctor informed me that this was probably due to stress and the fact that my body had not quite adjusted to my new lifestyle. She recommended that I work towards reducing stress in my life. My days began with a fruit sm...
