Our first project is to build an ophthalmology clinic for St Elizabeth Hospital in Arusha, Tanzania. This will be the first eye clinic in Arusha, a city with over 1.2 million people! Our clinic will offer easily accessible treatment to ocular diseases, that if left untreated, will eventually lead to blindness. The cost of this project is estimated to be 30,000. The majority of hospitals in remote areas of developing countries are severely under-resourced, and so do not have the capacity to treat the number of patients that are admitted. The work we plan on doing may not necessarily be the difference between life and death, but it will tremendously improve the quality of care patients receive.
