The Stories Gardens Tell | thepondsblog

Daily life in a country garden. The Stories Gardens Tell. Across the patio you come upon a very different look. The scene is spare and formal, a terrace spread with silver-grey river pebbles, and dotted with small clipped bushes – rosemary and lavender – and little flowering trees with ceramic pots places here and there. Daily life in a country garden. For some reason, the illustrations I put on the Dog Blog yesterday didn’t send – so here they are: Here is Skipper, my very first dog. Amy was the Beagle I loved to bits but who ran me ragged by eating too much and getting stuck down rabbit holes. My Best Dog ever. The little handful that won our hearts. Rosie was my partner’s dog – we tend to alternate our dogs so each have their own special friend to care for. She was a busy little thing, not much of a rabbiter, but she lived here wi...The summer af...

Daily life in a country garden. A Garden is Never Done. But as the years passed, the hedges grew too large. Their annual trim was not enough to keep them to their proper size. The gardens they sheltered now suffered from too much shade and starved as the hedge plants drew nutrients from the soil. And the small trees that once graced our flower beds had also grown too tall. The gardens lacked proportion. It was time for change. This entry was posted in Uncategorized. December 9, 2013. Owl Story →. The fun...
