http://ayearinthelifeofmywildlifegarden.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
A YEAR IN THE LIFE OF MY WILDLIFE GARDEN. Thursday, 28 May 2015. A Peppered Moth ( Biston betularia. Was in the moth trap yesterday morning - another new species for the year. This species provides a good example of evolution by natural selection in action. Unfortunately, the species is now declining and the numbers of Peppered Moths had declined by two thirds between 1968 and 2002 - the reasons for the decline are unknown. Tuesday, 26 May 2015. This weekend I trapped just a handful of moths. Bee Moth - ...

http://ayearinthelifeofmywildlifegarden.blogspot.com/2015/07/hornet-hoverfly-butterflies-razzmatazz.html
A YEAR IN THE LIFE OF MY WILDLIFE GARDEN. Tuesday, 28 July 2015. Hornet Hoverfly, Butterflies, Razzmatazz, Leaf Cutter Bees and Moths. I first spotted this Hornet Hoverfly ( Volucella zonaria. In the garden yesterday on Astrantia flowers but by the time I had fetched the camera it had gone. Luckily, it returned today and I managed to get a few record shots. It looks like a stinging hornet but is actually quite harmless. The mimicry helps to protect the hoverfly from predators, such as birds. Last year I ...

Milton Country Park Through the Year. Landscape photographs by Peter Higdon. Saturday, 25 June 2016. Milton Country Park Through the Year. Landscape photographs by Peter Higdon. Saturday, 23 July 2016. This is one post in a short series in which I look again at spring in Milton Country Park. So much happens in spring, in such a short space of time, that I found it impossible to keep up with the changing landscape, and, as a result, did not do justice to everything that was going on, the first time around. Orchard - 19 April 2016. Orchard - 19 May 2016. Apple Blossom - 8 May 2016. Elsewhere in the Park.
