Dee's Doodles

Monday, July 6, 2015. See you in a little while.". Because it really isn't "goodbye". My sweet mom went home on June 12th. We were blessed with nine and a half years with her after her initial diagnosis of Stage IV Ovarian Cancer. Last November we were given some very bad news about treatment options after all this time. Dee's Doodles: March 2015

http://thequiltingdee.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

Monday, March 2, 2015. You can almost hear the flowers growing.not! In my best, least sarcastic Disney singing voice). Do you want to build a snowman? I don't want to build a stupid snowman! I want to build a sandcastle, on the beach, in the sun, where there is no snow! Instead of temps in the 80's and the beach, we woke up yesterday morning to about 7 or 8 more inches of snow. On a sunnier, happier note, I was able to spend some time working with the salvaged corners of the embroidered feedsack. The gif...

Dee's Doodles: February 2015

http://thequiltingdee.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html

Monday, February 23, 2015. A Merry Heart Invites Sunshine. Here we are again. Under a white, snowey blanket. But as Mom and I merrily tell each other, "Hey! The sun is shining! 2" x 2" layout. A soft place to dream of the beach! Cotton fabric now ready to be used for a variety of purposes from underwear to quilts and embroidery! On the "front" of my find, you can still see the print of when it was being used for its original purpose. At the bottom of the picture, you can see where the print has faded...

http://thequiltingdee.blogspot.com/2015/04/my-soul-is-fed.html

Monday, April 13, 2015. My Soul Is Fed. With needle and thread. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers for my mom. Every day she has radiation, she is fitted with a mask almost exactly like this and bolted to the table under the radiation machine. The mask was made of moldable plastic and formed to her skull and shoulders. I have to tell you how stunned I was when I saw them pull her mask out of the cupboard and then watched them put her on the table and tighten the bolts. She is my hero! Here are some ...

She sews and scraps: everyday life

http://ourdailylife.typepad.com/she_sews_and_scraps/everyday-life

She sews and scraps. I am so relieved! Good news from my doctor! My second tissue (big chunk of skin) removal from my shoulder came back clear and free of cancer cells! I go in next week and have my stitches removed and they do a complete body check, that should be real fun.NOT lol and now I just go in every 6 months for those lovely body checks. I am so happy and feel so blessed. Thank you to those of you who were praying for me, you and I know who you are and I appreciate you lots! 1st Peter 5:7 (NIV).

The things I do/make/see. Indianapolis Modern Quilt Guild. March 23, 2010. We just had our second meeting on Saturday…1 person came. It was pretty disappointing. We had 7 ladies at the first meeting who all seemed very enthusiastic about getting together to sew – and quilt a few new people sign up on the website. I found an awesome space in downtown Indianapolis to hold our meetings at the Harrison Center for the Arts. I was super pumped about this! Filed in Indianapolis Quilt Guild. January 20, 2010.

The Incredible Shrinking Quilters: Criss Cross-Apple Sauce

http://shrinkingquilters.blogspot.com/2011/01/criss-cross-apple-sauce.html

Tuesday, January 4, 2011. Was the theme running in my head with Solidia's block. What fun fabric to play with. I love the fish! Thank you Solidia for letting me play with all the fun, quiltey goodness! In fact, I loved piecing this so much, and the way it looked, I'm using it as my block for the Indianapolis Modern Quilt Guild bee I'm in. I've been collecting oranges for a long time and just knew they had to be what this block was made from. Happy New Year everyone! January 4, 2011 at 11:13 PM.

The Incredible Shrinking Quilters: December 2010

http://shrinkingquilters.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html

Friday, December 31, 2010. I had two blocks to finish up the Bee and was able to put both together yesterday afternoon. I had a hard time initially cutting into her fabrics because I was afraid I'd mess up but I think it came out okay. The center pieces are small and a bit wonky but the block turned out a scant "9, which is what she wanted, so I'm pleased. I love scrappy quilting, and this was a fun block. I'm looking forward to seeing some quilts now that many of us should have completed blocks. Here's ...

The Incredible Shrinking Quilters: July 2010

http://shrinkingquilters.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html

Tuesday, July 27, 2010. Hello one and all! Hope your summer is keeping you happy, busy and sewing! This month's block started a long time ago when I began collecting scraps in limes, blues and brown whenever I would visit a quilt store. Stuffing as much as possible in a baggie for a couple of bucks. I've managed to gather what I think will be happy, fun fabrics to sew and have together in a quilt. The tutorial I'm asking you to use is from the Modify Tradition. I have no clue where they went or why!

The Incredible Shrinking Quilters: August 2010

http://shrinkingquilters.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html

Tuesday, August 24, 2010. I mailed this yesterday, which probably means Dee won't get it until after Labour Day :-( Thankfully it was quick and easy so I could finish on time. This will be such a pretty, fresh quilt when it's done. Thanks, Dee. Now Lesly, bring it on! Thursday, August 12, 2010. Hi Ladies. I am BEHIND! PS You will need my new address before anyone else sends their fabric. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

The Incredible Shrinking Quilters: October 2010

http://shrinkingquilters.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html

Sunday, October 31, 2010. I can't believe an entire year is almost over and it's my turn. Thank you so much for making the November block for me. We will be using April Cornell’s Prayer Flag. Material to construct the Dove at the Window 9” block. Found at Quilter’s Cache website. It shows it as partly paper pieced. I’ve printed off the templates (if you need them) and included it with the fabric that I'll mail out tomorrow. The Prayer Flag pattern I’m going to adapt is at Moda. In the first row). The sew...
