FirePuck: September 2014
http://firepuck.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, September 30, 2014. On Sunday, we headed up the street to Marilla's Ag Day. It's a relatively small event, but Evan can't get enough of the many tractors on display. This was, "the biggest, silliest tractor ever" and both kids were happy to pose to give perspective. For everyone, the biggest draw of the festivities is the petting zoo. The cows weren't so sure about all of the children milling about. Hazel and Even were in love (notice Hazel's clasped hands) with the piglets. Camp Weona, located ...

FirePuck: Watkins Glen Winefest
http://firepuck.blogspot.com/2015/07/watkins-glen-winefest.html
Friday, July 17, 2015. A week ago, I felt compelled to post to Facebook (something I rarely do) about my upcoming weekend:. This weekend is going to be a little out of the ordinary, because I'll be camping. In a tent (for the first time since we bought our pop-up). W/o Ben and the kids (sad face). W/my parents and sisters (Am I 12 again? At a wine festival (Ok, so I'm clearly not 12, and this is actually pretty ordinary). It's going to be fantastic! We arrived at Watkins Glen on Saturday morning. Ejbheal...

FirePuck: February 2015
http://firepuck.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Tuesday, February 24, 2015. Anyone who has been a major car accident knows that getting yourself well is not the only task. You must also deal with insurance companies, answer countless questions about the accident, schedule doctor's appointments, worry about getting back to work (even when your workplace has been more than accommodating), say goodbye to your old car and shop for a new one, and attempt to get back to some sense of normalcy. I decided to take the additional day of leave that had been offe...

FirePuck: August 2015
http://firepuck.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html
Thursday, August 20, 2015. Coach Eric took the time to get to know the team and handed out their jerseys. At one point, during a drill where students were asked to dribble to the goal and shoot, Hazel dribbled to the goalie box, stopped the ball, and began to back peddle to get a running head start. Coach Eric stopped her, "Would you be able to stop the ball and get a head start in a game? He asked, and when Hazel giggled and shook her head he responded, "Right! Saturday, August 15, 2015. And the trickli...

FirePuck: June 2015
http://firepuck.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Wednesday, June 24, 2015. First Day, Last Day. Today marks the end of another school year. Hazel has had an awesome first grade year. She's made so much academic progress, was asked to participate in the district-wide art show, received an award from the librarian for her progress in reading and choosing books, and was chosen for summer art and drama camps. There aren't words for the pride we feel. Our pictures on the last day of school were another reminder of how grown up our little girl is. We enjoyed...

FirePuck: Zoo Day
http://firepuck.blogspot.com/2015/07/zoo-day.html
Thursday, July 23, 2015. Despite the high temperatures and increased construction of exhibits, we had a great day at the zoo. We began with the elephants. Normally, we view them in their yard, but construction has closed that and opened (for the first time in my memory) their indoor feeding rooms. We were close enough that Evan was a little unsure of turning his back for the picture. There were lots of babies at play throughout the day. And the kids enjoyed posing for pictures. Throughout the farm exhibit.

FirePuck: March 2015
http://firepuck.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Saturday, March 21, 2015. I'm not sure when I became a fan of country music. I honestly think it started as a way to avoid the music my parents liked, but it has certainly remained a part of my repertoire.along with my parents' favorites. Among my favorite artists are the ones that initially pulled me in. Garth Brooks, The Hits. The night began with pre-show drinks at Pan American Grill,. And Brawlers in the basement of Pearl Street Brewery. Our seats weren't super close to the stage,. Then there was Ben...

FirePuck: Nine Years!
http://firepuck.blogspot.com/2015/07/nine-years.html
Friday, July 17, 2015. Wednesday was typical in many ways. Hazel had camp in the morning, and I tutored in the afternoon. As a treat, Hazel tagged along, and we had a sushi lunch at Wegmans. Hazel was excited by her success with chopsticks, and I noted that her shirt was appropriate for the day. As Ben and I were getting ready for our night out, Hazel presented us with a gift. Her drawing of our wedding day, including a flower in my hair, was thoughtful and cute. Won out over crazy eyes.

FirePuck: Evan's Future
http://firepuck.blogspot.com/2015/07/evans-future.html
Friday, July 17, 2015. It's great to see Evan taking an interest in the details. There is a lot of learning going on, which I love. I just hope this love of learning translates to improved knowledge of letters and numbers in the coming months. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Stuff My Children Say. FirePuck: Reader's Theater Camp
http://firepuck.blogspot.com/2015/08/readers-theater-camp.html
Thursday, August 6, 2015. I've spent a lot of time fighting with formatting and compressing video to no avail. Below are photos and a partial videos from Hazel's Reader's Theater Camp plays. Videos in their entirety are only available on my home computer. While we waited for Hazel and her camp-mates to prepare for the performance, Evan and I visited the school playground. As we entered the cafeteria, we took in the decor that the students created as part of their camp experience. View my complete profile.
