It was a great idea, but, shall we say, failed miserably in the execution (for which I was chiefly responsible). Thursday, June 16, 2005. In addition to...

At Sojourners on the ever-puzzling passage at Matthew 26:11. Was really a rebuke to Jesus' disciples:. Posted by thereligousleft editor at 7:22 PM. How Meyers or you to try to convince people Jesus was being IRONIC. You have the nerve to call it "self-righteous misreading "by who? Thank you, thank you and thank...

A challenge to right-wing conservatism's hold on religious and moral values in American society. Thursday, April 28, 2005. President Bush at Calvin College. For those of you who don't know, Calvin College is a bastion of conservative religious values. I have friends who went there because they liked that it still forbid students from dancing, among other things. To do some organizing. Posted by JAG at 10:52 AM. The Religious Left: January 2005

http://thereligiousleft.blogspot.com/2005_01_01_archive.html

A challenge to right-wing conservatism's hold on religious and moral values in American society. Sunday, January 30, 2005. Is this post about activism, or theology? Referring, of course, to the Xtian guest's remarks disparaging Bahaullah. Posted by BigMonkey at 11:59 AM. Saturday, January 29, 2005. Another Niebuhr on Empire. Love may qualify the social struggle of history but it will never abolish it, and those who make the attempt to bring society under the dominion of perfect love will die on the cross...

The Religious Left: Fighting poverty... with celebrities!

http://thereligiousleft.blogspot.com/2005/06/fighting-poverty-with-celebrities.html

A challenge to right-wing conservatism's hold on religious and moral values in American society. Tuesday, June 07, 2005. Fighting poverty. with celebrities! I'm not sure how effective campaigns like these are:. Yes, it's worthwhile to get some attention on the issues (and poverty and AIDS will always deserve more attention that they are getting at any given time). But do people really see beyond Brad Pitt's face to the issue? I'm skeptical, but hopeful - if such a state is linguistically possible.

Thursday, December 21, 2006. There are worse things i could do than go with a boy or 2. Even though the neighborhood thinks im trashy. I suppose it could be true. But there are worse things i could do,. I could flirt with all the guys. Smile at them and bat my eyes. Press against them when we dance. Make them think they stand a chance. Then refuse to see it through. Thats a thing id never do. I could stay home every night. Wait around for mr right. Take cold showers every day. And throw my life away.

Saturday, March 30, 2013. Originally posted on Holy Saturday, 2012. A few years ago, I was privileged to join several of my colleagues from the Harvard Divinity School on a human rights fact-finding trip to Honduras. The country had been shaken some six months before by a coup d'état, and the situation, for many, remained desperate. But despite the black despair with which one might expect to meet such conditions, hope - hope for a better world, hope for true peace, hope for justice - remained. But in th...

Wednesday, September 10, 2014. Temple Square and Why I'm not a Mormon - Temple Square Area - Salt Lake City, Utah - September 7th, 2014. With those post I don't mean to offend, but I'm not going to lie. This was my first time going and exploring Temple Square since I was a little kid and it was here that really captured a lot of the pros and cons of the Mormon Faith for me. Obviously the cons outweigh or else I'd be a member, so I'll tell about my experiences of revisiting the Mormon Mecca here. After Br...
