Louise Snidal: April 2012
http://baby8972.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Sunday, 22 April 2012. What Role does Technology play with our Digital Natives? I have begun to read Sherry Turkles' "Alone Together" and although I have had some discussions about robots, humans and their relationships, I am wondering about the pros and cons of robots as sociable companions? I am wondering the same. As an educator, I am trying to understand what role digital devices are playing in the cognitive and social development of children? Here's to digging in deep! Louise Snidal: September 2011
http://baby8972.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
Saturday, 24 September 2011. It was amazing to see how technology was strategically eliminated. Have we become so ignorant using this technology that we aren't able to cope without it? What about the new generation that doesn't know that the old technology existed and, if they do, don't know how to use it? How would they survive? We can't let the "old technology" become obsolete. When technology is pushed to the limit and crashes, we must be able to survive the fallout. Saturday, 17 September 2011. Don't...

Louise Snidal: Our Evolving Education System
http://baby8972.blogspot.com/2012/06/our-evolving-education-system.html
Saturday, 2 June 2012. Our Evolving Education System. I have just completed Rethinking Education in the Age of Technology. By Allan Collins and Richard Halverson (2009) and it put things into perspective for me around the issue of technology in the schools. I have had many thoughts, questions and opinions around this topic but have not been able to organize my thoughts around it until this book. The first era is the Apprenticeship Era which occurred before the 19. This began at the turn of the 19. With s...

Louise Snidal: October 2011
http://baby8972.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html
Monday, 31 October 2011. The answer is that I didn't think. I never once stopped to think about what happened after I dropped off my technology. Like Maha, I was ashamed with myself on my ignorance. But I can't beat myself up forever and if I want to make up for being uninformed, I realize I can do it by educating others. Thanks Kristin for the great leads on where we might be able to dispose our technology properly. maybe as a class or school, we can investigate this further. Sunday, 23 October 2011.

Louise Snidal: Connected Kids
http://baby8972.blogspot.com/2012/05/connected-kids.html
Wednesday, 2 May 2012. I finished Turkles’ book “Alone Together” and there are many parts to it that I do not want to believe. I do not want to believe that children crave robotic toys, much less connect with them as their “children” that they must care for. I do not want to believe that adults would crave the same from sociable robots because they do not have that confidence to find human companionship. I understand that robots are useful in dangerous working conditions. With demands of that many texts ...
