The Restoration of Crocus: March 2015

http://therestorationofcrocus.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

The Restoration of Crocus. Sunday, 22 March 2015. Jamie took the motor home across to Norfolk for the weekend so he could help Nick by painting the bilges. . He arrived on Friday evening and went to see Crocus, sending me these latest photos …. We’d had to choose a font for her name on the transom and this Disney one won the vote.  Not traditional I know but it seemed to suit her name.  This is before it was varnished over …. 160; On Sunday he was back again for the second white coat …. The Restoration of Crocus: June 2009

http://therestorationofcrocus.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html

The Restoration of Crocus. Tuesday, 30 June 2009. The most important work which has been happening over the last few weeks is the cutting and fitting of extra ribs. Not wanting to take out any of the current ribs, Mike decided to add new ones next to the existing ones and once they are fixed in place they will also be attached by tape and epoxy resin to give added strength. The circular saw was used at first to cut them . Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Cornwall - Beside the Sea.

The Restoration of Crocus: July 2009

http://therestorationofcrocus.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html

The Restoration of Crocus. Saturday, 4 July 2009. It was now time to screw the extra wide rib to the hull. The normal way to fix a rib is to use copper nails and roves which we will be using for all the other ribs but as this one was extra thick it was necessary to screw it in place. Stainless steel screws held it in place inside the cabin . And also from outside the hull . They are countersunk and will be filled before painting. Hopefully we will not have this problem again! Thursday, 2 July 2009. I'm a...

The Restoration of Crocus. Monday, 3 March 2014. Work Has Come to a Halt. His response was very positive and so while we were on our Broads holiday we went to his work sheds to meet him.  If figures could be agreed then we were really happy for Crocus to be finished here.  Hopefully all systems go again fairly soon! The Restoration of Crocus: November 2008

http://therestorationofcrocus.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html

The Restoration of Crocus. Wednesday, 19 November 2008. I know it's a while since I've posted anything on here but it doesn't mean that nothing has been happening. Every time that the weather has permitted it Mike has been out scraping away at all the layers of paint on her hull. It's a slow job but he's getting there! We noticed a problem when we first saw Crocus . He's been very slowly tightening it over the weeks. What a difference . Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.

Cornwall - Beside the Sea: August 2013

http://cornwall-besidethesea.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html

Cornwall - Beside the Sea. Our life in and around the north-coast village of Portreath . Thursday, 22 August 2013. Mark, Stuart and their dog Sharpie have been joined at their camp-site by their neighbours John and Leigh, two children Declan and Ewan and their two dogs. I offered to have all the dogs here so that they could go to Portreath beach for a surf.  I was envisaging four small dogs all playing happily together and then they arrived! 160; When the car pulled up it had a miniature pony in it!

Cornwall - Beside the Sea. Our life in and around the north-coast village of Portreath . Thursday, 24 July 2014. Just a hint of rain this morning.  We’d decided on Padstow for my last day and used the park and ride as the town is always difficult to park in.  There were loads of boats in the harbour and the place was buzzing …. There were so many children crabbing and they all seemed to be catching plenty …. Thursday, July 24, 2014. Wednesday, 23 July 2014. Photos from our early walk this morning ….

Broadland Holidays: Autumn Cruise

http://broadlandholidays.blogspot.com/2014/10/autumn-cruise.html

Saturday, 4 October 2014. As Crocus will be on the water next year our friends Steve and Lisa suggested that we join the East Anglian Cruising Club. Which we’ve duly done.  This weekend is the Autumn Cruise from St Benet’s Abbey moorings to Gay’s Staithe on the Saturday.  A booking has been made at the White Horse Inn, Neatishead. And I’m going along to meet some new friends.  I popped up to Ludham Bridge at eleven o’clock and was just in time to see Sally and Barney moor up …. 6 October 2014 at 07:55.

Broadland Holidays: Sunshine after the Rain

http://broadlandholidays.blogspot.com/2014/10/sunshine-after-rain.html

Tuesday, 14 October 2014. Sunshine after the Rain. The only thing you can say about yesterday is that it was wet! 160; Apart from two short walks with Hamish I hibernated in the motor home all day.  I took this photo on my evening walk and next to it is the same place three days ago …. So when the sun finally came out today I had lunch and then drove to Salhouse for a walk to the Broad.  It was pretty damp and a bit muddy in places but was still a lovely walk …. Saturday, 18 October 2014. Final Visit to Crocus and Off to Luton. Hamish had a final walk by the River Ant …. Then it was back to the site to collect the van and drive to Luton.  We began in convoy but the boys stopped for a Starbucks and I carried  on.  Hamish was happy to be at their home …. Tuesday, 30 September 2014. Irstead and Barton Turf. It wasn’t long this morning before the sun broke through and we were promised a beautiful day. . With a packed lunch sorted and the car packed I drove us to Irstead Staithe via Horning and Neatishead.  Hamish and I settled down to watch the world go by, reading and eating.  Several people made a fuss of my boy and we enjoyed the peace and quiet of the moorings. Wednesday, 1 October 2014. Rollesby Church and Horsey Windpump. Another lovely sunny morning so Hamish and I set off for the church at Rollesby.  I didn’t think I had any ancestors here but just wanted to visit the church …. From here we moved on to Horsey and parked in the National Trust car park at the mill.  We walked around the top of the dyke and down the far side until we reached the view point for the Mere …. 160; I’m glad I managed it though as the view was fantastic …. The Restoration of All Things

The Restoration of All Things. Sunday, October 5, 2008. A much needed update. My main focus this weekend was to get all the minor imperfections out of the sheet metal so that I could do my first coat of high-build primer. Mission accomplished:. Almost forgot about having the rust cut out and the new piece welded into the passenger side quarter panel. So, I'm practically done. Wednesday, August 6, 2008. A closer look at the rust that has to be cut out and replaced:. What I did today:. What's left to strip:.
