Hold That Thought: Critic's Choice Award
http://hold-thought.blogspot.com/2012/01/critics-choice-award.html
January 19, 2012. Nobody is perfect. We all know that. We have all said it and repeated it at one point or another of our lives, sometimes to ourselves, most of the times to a friend in need of support. Nobody is perfect. If we were, how would we define special? What would make us different? How would we be able to appreciate virtues, if we had no flaws to compare them? Because if we are destined to be our toughest reviewers, the least we can do is grant us our own critic's choice award. Coming from a pr...

Hold That Thought: October 2012
http://hold-thought.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html
October 20, 2012. Today is my birthday. A big one, at that. The one that comes with a complimentary identity crisis. The one in which you balance the checkbook of your life and feel you're on overdraft. The one that brings a new F word: FORTY. Like forty years ago, I begin this day at midnight, to the sound of my mother's voice, although I must say that this time is much more comfortable and less painful for her, and I am able to carry a conversation with some more fluidity than the day we first met!

Hold That Thought: February 2012
http://hold-thought.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
February 7, 2012. Experience is simply the name we give our mistakes. That is the sheer genius of Oscar Wilde speaking. And quite right he was! As every other person in the world, I have a mother who always knew better (still does, I might add). And more times than I would ever admit to her face (or her back, or out loud in public for that matter! She has been right. I've seen her being right on the money more times than any other person around me. Simply put, we grow up. And one day, we will hear ou...

Hold That Thought: Affairs To Remember
http://hold-thought.blogspot.com/2012/01/affairs-to-remember.html
January 12, 2012. And then, looking at our own lives, we proceed to feel miserable about love, and, more specifically, what we believe to be our lack of it. Because not only we want to be in love in a movie, but submerged as we are in this Hollywood esque. Notion of what love must look like, we don't realize we are limiting it to one kind and one kind only: the romantic type. Since we don't have it as we imagine it, we go ahead and declare that we don't have it at all. We forget to remember the other.

Hold That Thought: January 2012
http://hold-thought.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
January 25, 2012. People don't change. How many times have we said or heard this statement? Most of us are quite sure this is a fact. On the other hand, we have also been told that change is the only constant in life, and of this, we can even give proof. So, how is it that these two extremely opposite declarations can be true? So there you have it: people DO change, and change IS the only constant. We will face new tests and trials, and undergo an endless list of adventures and struggles, and after e...

Hold That Thought: To-Do List
http://hold-thought.blogspot.com/2012/01/to-do-list.html
January 2, 2012. Beware that this is NOT a post. These are not musings that came as the result of hours of profound introspection, nor are they the byproduct of meaningful experiences or deep heartache. What you are about to read is simply, my to-do list, and it goes like this:. 1- I will practice patience. It should be like a rubber band and, let's face it, mine is more like a leather belt. I'll never pull this one off! 8- I will give more second chances. Because at one point or another, I will need...

Hold That Thought: December 2011
http://hold-thought.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html
December 31, 2011. Should old acquaintances be forgot, and never brought to mind? Interesting question. If we were given the option, would we? Or, more importantly, could we? As I hum the tune (it's New Year's Eve, you see? So, we go over every detail of the year gone by, we analyze every situation. We break them down to pieces, and we put them back together with alternative scenarios and endings. What would we have done differently? What would we have said? What would we have left unsaid? And the right ...
