Friday, 31 July 2015. I joined the mountain hare survey team again today. We walked up Lammer Law once more, stopping to enjoy the views to the north, across the Firth of Forth, over to Fife. The ling heather is not quite flowering, just a few plants, here and there. The colour across the hillsides is coming from the bell heather. Monday, 10 August 2015. Fringe by the Sea starts today! It is the first day of Fringe by the Sea. It all kicks off this evening, but I thought it would be nice to nip over to North Berwick and have a wander round before the hoards start arriving for the first event of the festival. As we left home it was bright and sunny, but the weather coming from the west, and travelling in the general direction of NB, did not look promising! We decided to go for it anyway. We had umbrellas in the boot of the car!

Wednesday, 5 August 2015. My sweet peas are now blooming with enthusiasm. I was beginning to think they were going to give this summer a miss. Maybe it's because summer has more or less given us a miss. It's struggling, even here in our little East Lothian micro climate, where we get lots of sunshine and little rain. Tuesday, 4 August 2015. You may remember, some months ago, that we had a daily visit from Morris, a blue tit, in search of a nesting site. He would jump up and down at our windows, tapping on the glass with his beak. In the end he and his missus decided to move into the vent serving the extractor fan from our bathroom! I thought you might like to meet Morris's offspring, Morrison and Co. There are, at any one time, three young blue tits visiting the peanut feeder at the moment. 4 August 2015 at 13:16.
