the second stitch

Tuesday, June 18, 2013. If you know me on Facebook you will have seen all of these pictures but I just have to share here too ;). We were out on a drive on the weekend when we came across a beautiful little barn owl who was caught in a barb on a fence :(. We found him like this. It was about nine in the morning when we found him so I imagine he must have been there like that for quite a while. Such a beautiful creature, we all fell in love with him. Eventually we made it home to follow up more leads.

http://thesecondstitch-brenda.blogspot.com/2013/04/i-love-good-country-show.html

Monday, April 22, 2013. I love a good country show. If you've never been to one, it looks a little bit like this. Loads of fantastic art from local school kids. Top notch ginger beer brewed by locals, competing for glory in the home brew stakes. Fenced in for their protection. Insect displays, put together by the local high school students. Award winning baked goodies. Butters, jams, chutneys. Your child may or may not hand pick exactly which goat. They would like to take home. Mine did. We didn't. Visit...

the second stitch: February 2012

http://thesecondstitch-brenda.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html

Tuesday, February 28, 2012. I have long been fascinated by the art of book binding, and while this is primitive (very, very primitive) it is my first attempt at handbinding. As in the signatures (pages) are hand sewn to the cover. This was an experiment so it's small and not at all heavy duty. I just wanted to get a bit of a feel for the process. It's also bound with dental floss, and not waxed binding thread as, like I said, it was an experiment, I didn't want to be spending any money on this one. I've ...

Saturday, April 14, 2012. More Little People Style I love. Are you, like me, dreaming of clothing for children that is sweet and simple? Some inspiration for your dreams, enjoy. In the UK, where they never fail to come through with the goods, this sweet little shift and, most importantly, adorable yellow sandals. Love those yellow sandals. This comes from Mamsy,. Another offering, below, from the UK, by Elias and Grace. The grey knee socks and brown shoes below are killing me. Ruby has just outgrown a pa...

Sunday, June 24, 2012. This is how it looks around Here. A couple of days ago I had an unexpected afternoon. Without my children (gone to play with friends! Instead of using the time to catch up on the old to-do list,. I just grabbed my camera bag and jumped in my car. This is where I live. Saturday, June 23, 2012. Friday, June 22, 2012. What are you waiting for? Ok, not everyone will be able to handle these images. You might want to leave now. These images may. So go, if you have to. Put your stuff away!

*Me*: February 2008

http://me-nahte.blogspot.com/2008_02_01_archive.html

Thursday, February 28, 2008. I decided to do a colour challenge In Mystical Scrapbooking which involved red, cream and black. As soon as I saw it I knew exactly what to do. The background paper I used with the lettering and pencils is because my Dad was an architect and also loved to read. The paper flower because he loved gardening and very much appreciated flowers. The music was because he played classical music. The photo shows me sitting on my dads lap. I used the flower from the same paper. 2 Post t...

Saturday, May 31, 2008. Actually I can't sign off without posting this; my eldest daughter Estella at a local park last weekend with my new paper umbrellas (it has only just occurred to me to start up a prop box.) Took about 6 shots before the light disappeared, and these were two of them. I have used a Vintage action on these from Amanda Keeys. Have only just bought these and really enjoying them. I admire her work very much. And welcome to my first posting. . A) I can give clients a few sneak previews ...

Thursday, October 30, 2008. While I am cheating. Another cheaty little mini-post. Real posts coming soon, as soon as I have mastered the art of Quicken (I would not have made a very good accountant, so is lucky I married one).(or maybe unlucky, come to think of it.). Anyway, here is the Arch-meister cuddling on the beach with the aformentioned accountant. Sunday, October 26, 2008. I must not get distracted, I must not get. Hardly any editing at all required? Tuesday, June 24, 2008. Celebrating My Mothers Group. Anyway the Sunday before last we spent a wonderful day at the Box Hill Miniature railway, and after resorting to toilet talk (and the removal of enthusiastic siblings) we finally got them all looking and laughing in (sort of) one direction. Tuesday, June 17, 2008. OK, Obviously the images are not up. Technologically speaking, I am not having a great day. I will try to upload these images again in the am! Thursday, June 5, 2008. Monday, July 28, 2008. Could you blame me? I could work on the hundreds of images requiring my immediate attention, or I could write a to- do list to outline all the household stuff I am behind in, or I could get on with the half-finished library bag I insisted on sewing (for Mattea) before yet another library day rolls around, or I could even go to bed (gasp! For some very well earned rest. Wednesday, July 23, 2008. This cheers me up. Tuesday, July 15, 2008. The troll under the tree. Anyway, on a cold M...

Tuesday, September 23, 2008. Well, at what point does it seem that my daughter has become my muse.this delicate creature whom I am only just getting to know? Sunday, September 21, 2008. *Me*: How long has it been

http://me-nahte.blogspot.com/2009/03/how-long-has-it-been.html

Sunday, March 29, 2009. How long has it been. It has been so long. I can't promise I will write more. Have had so much going on. But I suppose not the sort of thing I would write in a public blog. My son has started high school. I think I have founded the adjusting almost harder than he has. He is growing up. I am so proud though. I haven't scrapbooked much at all. I look at my supplies and I miss working on it. There is nothing really stopping me from starting it up again. March 31, 2009 at 11:30 PM.

When One Just Isn't Enough. Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. March 26, 2014. December 24, 2013 – Lunch. Written by: Second Stomach. We’re out doing some errands on Christmas eve and just looking for something quick for lunch. Left it up to me and I opted for noodle soup. Is really just a very small hole-in-the-wall bubble tea and snack spot. A TV in the background was blaring with a Chinese soap opera. This is what we had for our quick lunch snack:. thesecondstories | a fresh perspective in a few moments.

A fresh perspective in a few moments. Good Reads / Tunes. July 22, 2015. The air came like heat waves from an oven. Only no chocolate chip cookies were baking… just me. I was directly in front of my fan. It was my first night home after a month of travel outside of this country, and my goal was to save air conditioning until I had finished unpacking. I’ve got to get used to only running it when I am sleeping. On first moving into a stuffy basement apartment in a Middle Eastern desert, I made a vow:.
