Deliver instruction or produce learning? « Cui Bono

Theatre as an Evolutionary Good. Deliver instruction or produce learning? In many schools, teaching is expected to follow syllabi that lay out what students will learn, as well as when and how they will learn it. But in a real classroom, whether kindergarten, graduate school, or the school of life, there are live people with personal needs and knowledge. A particular tap in this. Direction will shift this person’s perspective; after today’s discussion you will know that this. Next Post →. Enter your emai...

Mad Engineering: September 2013
http://madengineering.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html
Maniacal solutions to everyday problems. Tuesday, September 10, 2013. When I think about tires, the more I realize how completely weird they are. Our roads are full of vehicles that ride on inflated air. Why? A completely solid tire would cause too much wear on the road, but they're also vulnerable to puncture, deflation, and so on. However, since basically 100% of my driving is on cement or asphalt roads, which change very little, and puncturing a tire is a severe problem, I was thinking, as a longer la...

Maniacal solutions to everyday problems. Monday, July 20, 2015. Will Wheaton's Laser Jackhammer. Ago on July 13th, Will Wheaton proposed that the jackhammer that was annoying him at the time be replaced with a new system, that would, instead of using a vibrating hammer to break apart the rocks and concrete of the urban jungle, vaporize it with lasers. Mr. Wheaton feels that this would be quieter, which would disturb his work significantly less. Tuesday, July 14, 2015. Since they can't be convinced, the n...

Mad Engineering: May 2014
http://madengineering.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html
Maniacal solutions to everyday problems. Thursday, May 29, 2014. I was recently fooling around with Wolfram Alpha. Especially in regards to the whole feed the oceans thing I wanted to do. The following preposterous things were discovered:. The cost would be about $100 million for the first run, then $50 million after that. Getting the carbon levels down to the way they were when I was a child would triple the biosphere. Reversing the carbon to pre-industrial levels would increase it to ten times.

Mad Engineering: April 2014
http://madengineering.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
Maniacal solutions to everyday problems. Wednesday, April 30, 2014. Recently we have run out of a critical supply. No, there's still enough oil for the moment, the electric grid is working fine, at least in my area of the world, and there's no shortage of food where distribution is not being deliberately sabotaged. We're short of IP addresses. By last year, justification had to be given to get any sort of IP address at all. Groups with large allocations were asked to give them back. This faired p...China...

Mad Engineering: Light and Heavy

Maniacal solutions to everyday problems. Monday, August 3, 2015. I've been thinking about two things that commonly have the adjectives "Light" and "heavy" attached to them. Specifically, rail, and industry. Clearly, a good economy is, among other things, diverse. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Easy come, difficult go. Moonflower in the evening of the Semishigure.
