Finding my way with words and paint during a social media detox. 8220;swimming in a sea of you”. These paintings are based on photographs of two young girls from Syria. Often, when I’m playing with blind contour, I feel as though can see inside the eyes of my subject. If I’m quiet, present, and lucky, their soul “speaks” to me. These girls spoke to me. They spoke of their struggles, of swimming through a sea of friends, family.and of hope. 8220;swimming in a sea of you”. Inspired by her story, and the st...

Finding my way with words and paint during a social media detox. Derrida Deconstruction Dissemination “Dab! One of my favorite classes in college was Major Critical Theories, which focused on the writings of many great thinkers from Socrates to Kant to Butler. Derrida made my head dizzy. We had to memorize two passages. It still hurts to look at this one:. I prefer this sweet little piece of brain taffy:. To pretend, I actually do the thing: I have therefore only pretended to pretend. Liked by 1 person.
Mackintosh and Poppies – Thoreauly Lost
https://thoreaulylost.wordpress.com/2016/06/22/mackintosh-and-poppies
Finding my way with words and paint during a social media detox. 8220;California Poppies” by Nan Lehnert. The watercolor roses of Charles Rennie Mackintosh delight the eye and tickle the fancy. His are not weak flowers, but sturdy and elegant — much like our brilliant orange California Poppies. On June 7th, 78 Derngate invited fans to post photos of flowers for Rennie. I painted these vibrant, persimmon colored poppies. This painting is available on my Etsy store Nan Lehnert abstract flora fauna and faces.
About – Thoreauly Lost
https://thoreaulylost.wordpress.com/about
Finding my way with words and paint during a social media detox. While I dabbled in art throughout my 20s, it wasn’t a serious focus of mine, and I didn’t think I had any talent. I loved art and had favorite artists; however, my grandmother was the true artist in the family, and I was glad to leave that craft to her. In November 2015, I was introduced to blind contour drawing through an art teacher at school. I tried it and I was hooked! I am continually inspired by the world around me. Life is beaut...

The following are my personal musings about the areas that interest me most: training and education, sports and entertainment, current political events, and general comments or observations about life. How did this sneak up on me? I can’t believe it, I’m in college. My first term in college is nearly to its midpoint. So many friends I miss, so many new friends I’m still meeting. I’m definitely going to pursue something in theatre and hopefully music. I love to draw and I love art, but I don’t know yet. I mean, it’s only the first term. Classes are great; mostly theatre.
