The Buttery

The Buttery is a self-contained end of Thorringtons Farm house. It is available to let throughout the year for two-night breaks, short 3 or 4 night breaks or full-weekly lettings and has space for two to four people plus a travel cot. Based in a rural location on our working arable and livestock farm the property is ideally located for those visiting the area for wildlife spotting and bird watching, walking and cycling. Thorringtons Farm is located in the village of Layer Marney to the south of the historic town of Colchester. We have pigs on the farm, a small livery yard and produce hay available for sale direct from the farm. The Buttery, our self-catering holiday cottage is superbly located for those wishing to stay and explore the local area. The Howie family have farmed in Essex for three generations. The family farm at Wicks Manor, Tolleshunt Major is where we breed and rear pigs and run Wicks Manor Pork.

Hat Day was a big success. We saw tons of AMAZING hats. Above you can see just a few wonderful hats! Thorrington School of Rock Top 3 in NZ. Our school band, "Thorrington School of Rock", recently came third in the Nickelodeon TV Nick Rocks competition. Paul Sparkes, a school parent, was also recently in the top 3 for the Qantas Film and Television Awards. Editing of the Close Up documentary on Thorrington School of Rock.
