Musings of a Social Conscience. Living Fully Throughout Transition. Full Bellies and Humbled Hearts. May 21, 2015. Stacks of empty Tupperware and Casserole dishes (and this is only half of them! Are a symbol of the most precious gift for parents of three tornadoes, including a 2-week-old. We have full bellies and very humbled hearts thanks to our faith community. And every single day I find myself thinking, “how can we ever repay this generosity! Truth be told, it’s humbling. And it’s good for us. It rem...

Yes, this happened | Musings of a Social Conscience

https://thoughtsandmusings.wordpress.com/2015/04/13/yes-this-happened

Musings of a Social Conscience. Yes, this happened. April 13, 2015. So this happened last week. It’s taken me a good four days to start speaking about it publicly because it’s so humiliating. Who puts their wallet AND phone on top of the car, buckles in their almost two year old, then jumps into the drivers seat and just TAKES OFF. Well, me and my 8-month-pregnant-self, apparently. What happened to it? It was an epic case of pregnancy mush brain (one that comes close to the Baby Brain incident of 2011.

Musings of a Social Conscience. Living Fully Throughout Transition. A Sunday to Be Grateful For. April 5, 2015. My nails are painted. Bright fuchsia pink. It had to be something bright and light and hopeful. In these last weeks of pregnancy, all wobbly and waddling and breathless and awkward, it really is about the little dignities: feet up in my new second hand reclining chair; painted nails; an Afternoon nap; warm cookies straight from the oven; spending time writing. Yes, this happened. Enter your com...

Chutzpah* | Musings of a Social Conscience

https://thoughtsandmusings.wordpress.com/chutzpah

Musings of a Social Conscience. Courage bordering on arrogance…nerve. Some of the things I am (perhaps all too) proud of:. I have travelled to the same number of countries as my age (and through 14 with my three year old and 1 year old in tow). I have spent more than 2000 hours in dance classes since I was five years old. I have had a job as a dancer at an amusement park and I’ve been an extra in a television series. I have shaken Tony Campolo’s. I’ve climbed Mt. Kinabalu. In one day. You go, girl! You a...

I called you to live at your best, your utmost best, to pursue righteousness, to sustain a drive toward excellance. If you are already fatigued by this run-of-the-mill crowd of apathetic mediocrities, what will you do when the real race starts, the race with the swift and determined horses of excellence? Are you going to shuffle along with the crowd, or RUN WITH THE HORSES? If you have raced with men on foot and they have worn you out, how can you compete with horses? 8230; warm blanket ….
