Thursday, February 17, 2011. Lucky for me, I had the best group of people to work with for METAproject. Below, we are holding our final book containing over one hundred pages. Throughout the semeseter we would spread our boards out on the tables, like in the photo below, and the professors would come around to meet with each group. The class was all about research and projecting. I had never heard the word "projecting" the way they use it in the class, the process of a project. Links to this post. We dec...

thoughts on spots: Ciao Craig

http://thoughtsonspots.blogspot.com/2011/02/ciao-craig.html

Wednesday, February 16, 2011. Right as winter break ended, I started another vacation as Craig arrived in Europe for the first time. He wears ties and scarves all the time so I knitted this tie for him and the scarf that he is wearing below. I love the tie, I want to make more! We followed the steam-punk-cardinal's suggestion and went up. Below, a woman puts her heel on the bull's @#$% and twirls in a circle for good luck. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Monday, December 21, 2009. The semester is finally done! Since I was so focused on school, the fact that Christmas was right around the corner was completely lost on me. However, we got our first snow in New York and it was magical! Now it seems a lot more like Christmas. It started off as a little dusting of flakes and then it turned into SNOW as indicated in the photos below. Links to this post. Thursday, December 17, 2009. Links to this post. Tuesday, January 26, 2010. Through the Backyards of Our Neighbors. Baby tell me please. Is this a dream. Spending the night with you. Beneath the cherry trees. Just make a wish and everything comes true. Out the windows of my bedroom. Through the backyards of our neighbors. But I didn't leave you waiting. There was endless concentration. Then the moon swept down to greet us. It was warm and made of flowers. Into vines that barely reached us. Climbing higher than forever. Baby help me please. Was it a kiss.

http://thoughtsonspots.blogspot.com/2011/02/yuletide-events.html

Wednesday, February 16, 2011. No joke, they cut it perfectly. Briana had to hand cut the cookies into Christmas shapes. I conjured up a glaze for the ham with a little bit of orange marmelade, cloves, sugar and nutmeg. My first time making home-made stuffing. A concoction of dried bread cubes, apples, raisins, cranberries, onions, celery, chicken stock, sage and other spices. It was so good that I made it again a week later. Family for a day. Evolution of Design: The World through Kids' Eyes

http://brianahaley.blogspot.com/2010/02/world-through-kids-eyes.html

Monday, February 8, 2010. The World through Kids' Eyes. Luggage room was at a premium when I went home for winter break from school so I couldn't bring back good kid gifts. Instead, I took my friend Kandy and her boys, Brandon and Dillon, to the Science Center of Iowa. Kandy, Brandon, Dillon. We did all sorts of exploring - watching a ball roll along roller coaster tracks. Tugging a rope strung through pulleys to lift a large tire. Watching balls travel through a maze of fans and obstacles. The bubble ar...

Evolution of Design: October 2009

http://brianahaley.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html

Wednesday, October 28, 2009. Working on the mess that started it all. Playing with the rest of the material to see what shape looked best. I was afraid it was too picnic-tablecloth-like so I didn't want to overwhelm the eye. It's hard to work with this much heavy fabric. The pins don't hold up that much weight easily. The fabric to the side is because eventually I will drape the back and then pin the front to the back in the rough shape of the dolman sleeve that I want. Besides the decisions on mood boar...

Evolution of Design

http://brianahaley.blogspot.com/2010/09/im-starting-my-year-abroad-in-milan.html

Friday, September 24, 2010. I'm starting my year abroad in Milan, Italy. I will be studying for my 5th and 6th semester at Fashion Institute of Technology through a program at Politecnico di Milano. FIT has a full program at their Bovisa campus. I chose to study abroad because of the amazing experiences offered, the chance to learn about fashion from a different perspective, and in hopes of learning another language. Practicing Italian gestures before we leave NYC. Cappuccio and brioche for breakfast.

Evolution of Design: Merry Christmas!

http://brianahaley.blogspot.com/2010/01/merry-christmas.html

Sunday, January 31, 2010. Coming home to dogs is the most joyful experience. Storm didn't disappoint. She wagged until she was close enough to smell and realize it was me - then she was excited and kept jumping up to "nose-bump" me (her version of kisses). So sweet! Where does a poor, time-crunched college student shop? At the school bookstore! Mom and Dad wore their new FIT parent shirts with pride. Me and my girl. And a snowman. Just have to throw that in to balance things out a bit.

Evolution of Design: Wicked Beauty

http://brianahaley.blogspot.com/2010/01/wicked-beauty.html

Sunday, January 31, 2010. Conjure an image of a beautiful but wicked ice queen and you'll be on the right track to imagining winter in Iowa. In December of 2009, Iowa got more snow than they had seen since the 1800s. Rough start. While I was home there was a blizzard, an ice storm and more snow. Pine trees in the back yard after a melt-fog-frost combo froze. It wreaked havoc on power lines causing major power outages around the state. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Evolution of Design: Fashion's Night Out - Milan

http://brianahaley.blogspot.com/2010/11/fashions-night-out-milan.html

Saturday, November 13, 2010. Fashion's Night Out - Milan. Thursday, September 9th was the 2nd annual Vogue Fashion's Night Out in Milan. I love that I've gotten to experience the event in NYC as well as Milan. Fashion's Night Out is the brainchild of Anna Wintour, Editor of Vogue, who thought it would be a great way to get people excited about fashion and shopping again after a rough downturn in the industry during the recession. Highlights of the night: seeing the shoppers' outfits of course! Amazing de...

Insights into 'Spirituality'

The only thing that distinguishes our consciousness from 'Pure Unconditioned Consciousness' is our feeling that something 'else' needs to happen before we can be 'complete'/'saved'/'forgiven'. It is this feeling that weaves a web of identity around the stories that our thoughts provide. Without this feeling, thoughts just arise and subside. And the vastness of the Self remains clearly untouched. unstained. Wednesday, November 17, 2010. It's JUST an idea. It's just an idea. Think again' . or not. It is tr...

Thoughts on Sports

Commentary on the world of sports. Monday, December 12, 2011. Week 14 Football Thoughts. 1 How should New England fans feel about the Green Bay's run at perfection? I am sure there are some Patriots fans rooting for the Packers to lose and therefore not do what Belichick and Brady failed to do seasons ago. I am not one of them. As far as I am concerned, if Green Bay goes 19-0, I will feel honored to have seen history. Would I rather New England have accomplished it first? Posted by Josh at 12:58 PM.

Friday, November 1, 2013. Taking the Leap - Part 1. Everyone wants to succeed, no matter what they pursue, but the secret to success doesnt lie in the how much you want to succeed, it lies in how hard you are willing to work for the success. You will never change where you are by continue doing what got you there. You must be willing to sacrifice your comforts and do what the people around you arent willing to do. This is all common sense. Yet there always seems to be something holding us back. Every sto...

It's great that Joan got to open her own company, but not necessarily true to the story we've seen over the past few years, which stacked on top of Peggy getting together with Stan and the great breaks for Pete felt a bit too fairy tale. Thoughts on Success and Happiness - Thoughts On Success And Happiness - Home

Thoughts on Success and Happiness. I recently asked a friend to receive an electronic payment from me. My friend was afraid to give out financial information online because it might lead to the emptying of all their bank accounts. As a long time online consumer, this fear is irrational and I wanted to just tell them that it was safe and get over it. Then I thought a little more and was wondering what is another common irrational fear? Why irrational fears do I have and what can I do about them? OK, so ex...
