3 Birds

Tuesday, August 17, 2010. My friend Sara said recently that part of eating locally and seasonally is that we have to get sick of some things before their season is over and there’s no way around that. She is a farmer and a vegetarian, and I imagine this is especially true for her but it ought to be true for all of us. Squash Frittata with Sage and Lemon. 2 medium summer squash. 1 medium onion, diced. 2T each butter and olive oil. 1-3T chopped fresh sage. Finely grated zest of 1-2 lemons. Julienne the squ...

3 Birds: August 2008

http://threebirdsathome.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html

Sunday, August 24, 2008. Finchs Fabulous Fig Festival. Originally uploaded by 3Birds. Finch was very pleased and proud to present these figs first to the camera for a quick photo shoot and then to his siblings for an even quicker feast. Did they taste sweeter to him because he'd been warned away from them a thousand times all summer long? I think so. As soon as I said "Oh, we have some ripe figs" he came running, shrieking "Me pick it ripe figs, me pick it, mine figs, mine figs! Eat ripe fig now! I've al...

3 Birds: February 2009

http://threebirdsathome.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html

Sunday, February 15, 2009. Originally uploaded by 3Birds. My children love to go 'downtown' especially when we're heading toward the Inner Harbor or Ft. McHenry. There is an intersection that provides a sort of visual portal between ordinary city and downtown, and whenever we pass this spot, we get a little silly. Or the American Visionary Art Museum. He commands us all to 'LOOK! Until we not only look but admire, out loud, whatever it is he's talking about. Lately, Ft. McHenry. The boys are mostly inter...

If I could show you a picture of the sardines I just scaled and gutted! To be honest, they're very poorly done since it was my first time prepping whole fish of any kind, but it was lots of fun. The boys enjoyed seeing the gills but something was lost in translation for Finch who then wanted to know where his. Spaghetti with b...

3 Birds: July 2008

Friday, July 25, 2008. The storm came up so very quick. Originally uploaded by 3Birds. Marchette Chute was writing about a Spring Rain. Folks rushed by with newspapers over their heads; one man walked sedately along until lightening crackled alarmingly close-by. "Holy Fuck! Dinner tonight: fettucine with tomatoes, garlic, and basil, topped with parmagiano. Links to this post. Monday, July 14, 2008. Originally uploaded by 3Birds. Friday, July 11, 2008. 3 Birds: April 2008

http://threebirdsathome.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html

Monday, April 21, 2008. Ahoy there, crew members! Do any of you Baltimore folks remember Captain Chesapeake? Anyway, I've been neglecting my blog because I've been frightfully busy, but since part of being 'busy' included frolicking at Rehoboth Beach a couple of weeks ago, I've got lots to blog about. Now that I've caught up on the housekeeping, I'll be posting more regularly for a bit, until I get behindhand and overwhelmed again! So, I offer you, an ffo (failed finished object):. December 11, 2012. Located in the beautiful Black Hills, I make pies out of my kitchen in Rapid City, SD. I believe pie=happiness, and I love to share this joy. I hand deliver my pies to homes or businesses, usually with my little ones at my feet. I will be closing up shop temporarily, beginning in May of 2014, to prepare for the arrival of our newest child. We are very excited! I look forward to baking for you again! Leave a Reply Cancel reply. You must be logged in. To post a comment.
