Group 3a Thriller: match-cutting

http://www.thriller08group3a.blogspot.com/2009/03/match-cutting.html

Tuesday, 31 March 2009. Today’s lesson we given a storyboard and had to make up shots for it, there were two groups one had to make up the series of shots whilst the other did the same and they we would have to compare the results. A day in East London, 3pm. A man has confidential information and eagerly loads this on a CD. He then packages it to send it off. Mickey then showed us his version of the scenario he gave us. We spotted how he applied his match-cutting technique into the video. Our group was g...

Group 3a Thriller: February 2009

http://www.thriller08group3a.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html

Thursday, 26 February 2009. 3 lessons of editing. In this lesson we started editing our thriller opening. We started off capturing the filming we did on the previous lesson onto final cut. After we did this we started to choose which part we needed in our thriller by shortening it by using (i) in point, (0) out point. Wednesday, 25 February 2009. The Barbican was a perfect place to film our thriller as it would relate to the bag swap because the area was full of office worker so they would be in suits, s...

AS Thriller Practical: November 2008

http://candiasthriller08.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html

Your coursework is split into two parts. Firstly there is a preliminary exercise; a continuity task involving filming and editing a character engaged in some basic 'Thrilling' action. This task should demonstrate match on action,shot/reverse shot and the 180-degree rule. The main task: the titles and opening of a new Thriller fiction film, to last a maximum of two minutes. Friday, November 28, 2008. The shower scene from Hitchcock's Psycho. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Group 18 Thriller

Sunday, 29 March 2009. As research we the film ‘The Shining’. This is a very famous thriller which uses shots to portray its genre. I learnt that to have a successful thriller you have to have a lot of long shots. This is to not only show the mise-en-scene but so you can capture what is going on behind the character on screen. This definitely creates a tense, Nail biting feeling. Friday, 27 March 2009. Thursday, 26 March 2009. Tuesday, 24 March 2009. So today we started editing - i'd used final cut pro b...

Monday, 29 June 2009. Tuesday, 24 March 2009. I forgot to add this peice of information to my evaluation and did not want to edit the blog today in fear of loosing marks, so i thought my best option was to post it as a seperate blog. We went to the cinema 'Vue' located in Angel, Islington's N1 Centre. It was ironic as people who were our target market for our thriller were the most likely people to visit this type of cinema, rather than independent cinema's that mainly focus on showing British made movies.

Group 31 Thriller

Sunday, 5 April 2009. In the opening of Se7en they edited it really well using creepy writing and used extreme-close-ups on the person’s hands well also because you don’t ever see the persons face which makes it freakier. In our thriller we used techniques from the films we watched:. The famous picture from the 1980s film psycho. Our thriller’s knife shot. I think if our opening was a complete film it would be released by film4 because as they promote English/ UK films and we are based in the UK. Due to ...

Group 36 Thriller

Tuesday, 31 March 2009. As we were instructed to create an opening to a thriller movie using specific devices and techniques from conventional thriller films, our group took influence from a few well known thriller films. We first created a digital story board and a ‘dry run’ of our initial ideas for our thriller ‘DeathWalk’ and views on how we want the finished product to look. The final look of the main character looked similar to The Ring (2002):. The sound in our final piece was also similar to ...

Friday, 26 June 2009. Labels: ALI Xani Chris Pyne Kelsey Comrie. Thursday, 26 March 2009. In my media product I feel we stuck to real life media conventions for example the 180 degree rule, match cuts and shot reverse shot. We especially paid attention to these 3 rules because if we didn’t we realised our whole thing would go wrong and wouldn’t be understood. 8220;The watching” which helped immensely. Also some of the clips we studied were:. 8221;28 days later”,. 8221;Arlington road” ,. Maybe turned into...

Monday, 29 June 2009. Monday, 23 March 2009. The Lady Killer Evaluation! While planning this thriller, our intentions were for the audience to acknowledge and identify me, as the main character. We did this by revealing my face at the end, showing who I am and what I was doing. The person we wanted the audience to identify the most was me, the killer. We did this by showing Nicole's face/description right at the end as she killed Tony and walked away. Without the internet , I don’t see how we could...

Wednesday, 25 March 2009. 1) A ‘convention’ is a set of agreed, stipulated or generally accepted standards, norms or criteria. Our media project is presented in a very professional manner, which has been worked on extensively to portray and emulate the sense of a real life film. We have used various tools and software to try to achieve this. My media product challenges the form, of real life thrillers as it highlights the storyline onscreen in a relatively unique way. Monday, 23 March 2009. My media Thri...

Thursday, 25 June 2009. Thursday, 30 April 2009. Looking over our edited thriller, opening clip we decide it should be the final piece to send off to the examiners as we couldn’t really make much improvements and was also very pleased with the copy we had made. Our teamwork, motivation and dedication enabled us to create such as what I would say an effective clip. In our thriller we made sure that the story line is something that we can relate to as we put things that accurse in every day life in this so...

Thursday, 25 June 2009. Thursday, 30 April 2009. Friday, 27 March 2009. We filmed a series of scenes which included an establishing shot, the child playing on the slide etc, the child and its mother holding hands and walking into the park and also clips from the p.o.v. of the mother and of the stalker in the bushes. These shots were vital in building suspense. When we had finished the filming we returned to college to begin uploading our footage to the computer. Labels: Pa Trice Neita. Before making the ...
