Through Grass and Sage

Through Grass and Sage. Inspired by the everyday moments that are "enough to convert you.". Thursday, July 23, 2015. This morning my son said that playing violin on a piece and then accompanying a different hymn with guitar in the same Sunday worship service would mess with his feng shui. He refused the guitar piece (his dad could do it,) but later agreed to play that second piece through once on his violin. Makes sense to me. 8221; I wrote him. “Flowers,” he responded. At this point, Nathan called me an...

Through Grass and Sage: February 2015

http://www.throughgrassandsage.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html

Through Grass and Sage. Inspired by the everyday moments that are "enough to convert you.". Tuesday, February 24, 2015. This morning Nathan woke up before my 5:20 alarm, rolled over, and said, “I love you.” Then he said a few more nice things. I sure wish I could remember what. Something like, “You’re sweet… Love you so much…”. Later after I had hit the snooze button three times, I asked Nathan, “Why did you tell me all those nice things? 8220;I know.”. 8220;Oh.”. Or maybe he enjoyed our time to talk aft...

Through Grass and Sage: November 2014

Through Grass and Sage. Inspired by the everyday moments that are "enough to convert you.". Sunday, November 30, 2014. After a relaxing thanksgiving with family in Newton, and a great trip to visit friends in Lawrence, Sunday morning came too soon. First Sunday of Advent meant first Sunday of the winter quarter meant first Sunday that I’m teaching primary Sunday school. 8221; I actually have no idea. “Let me look.”. 8220;Mom, are you looking? What are we doing in Sunday School? 8220;Oh and mom? Unexpecte...

The echo of whomever spoke. I awoke and faintly bouncing round the room. The echo of whomever spoke. Yes, Madre." (His new nickname for me. Sometimes he just calls me Dre."). What group is this? It's Phish. Why? Oh, nothing, it's just a good song.". I know I like it too.". 8230; and I awoke. Flowers waiting fo...

Through Grass and Sage: Disgruntled and Discomforted

http://www.throughgrassandsage.blogspot.com/2015/05/disgruntled-and-discomforted.html

Through Grass and Sage. Inspired by the everyday moments that are "enough to convert you.". Monday, May 4, 2015. A book review of Asali Solomon's first novel, Disgruntled. Back when I listened regularly to NPR (I took a break for Lent and it has been so refreshing, that I haven’t gone back…. yet) I heard Asali Solomon read an excerpt from her first novel, Disgruntled. 8221; Kenya challenges her. “I don’t know,” her friend falters. But everyone knows. Two poignant one paragraph stories from the book:.

Through Grass and Sage: White Iris

http://www.throughgrassandsage.blogspot.com/2015/05/white-iris.html

Through Grass and Sage. Inspired by the everyday moments that are "enough to convert you.". Friday, May 15, 2015. I grew up with lots of flowers,. But impatients along the shady sides,. Geraniums in the cut-off barrels,. Hanging baskets never did well. Old paradigm: I hate petunias. With their vociferous, veiny bells. How can you hate a flower? I also don't like white flowers. They look dirty (particularly a geranium after it rains.). And irises are awkward. My grandma was so proud of hers-. Simple templ...

throughgracealone | Just another WordPress.com site

Just another WordPress.com site. September 23, 2013 by throughgracealone. As some of you know, I moved a year ago and again this year. Last time I never did really find a church, and this time I haven’t found anything yet either. After yet another really irritating situation (actually two) on Sunday, I’ve been thinking. So a Pentecostal service got boring? But why am I bored? Christianity isn’t a compartmentalized institution. Following Jesus isn’t nice and neat and tidy. It’s actually a bit chao...I pic...

throughgrammaseyes | Just another WordPress.com site

Just another WordPress.com site. Things I Thought I Knew. In facing difficult choices. I used to think that when I was .say… 18 years old, with my high school diploma in hand, I would know what I needed to know to meet (and beat) the world. I set out for college with high hopes, a great work ethic and a goal to graduate with a degree in four years. In 1958 this was a reasonable assumption. LIFE IS NEVER AS SIMPLE AS IT SEEMS. If one wants the Truth, how can she turn away when it is put in her face? You m...

BEING THANKFUL FOR THE BLESSINGS, LOVE, HAPPINESS, AND CHALLENGES OF EACH NEW DAY. Sunday, January 5, 2014. My One Little Word. I stumbled upon Ali Edward's One Little Word. Project by accident. Through Gray Eyes

I feel you, and it hurts. June 10, 2015. I love this quote. Because it is exactly my life. All the time. So when things hit the fan, I have to be careful. Or down the yellowed with grime brick road I go. I still struggle to protect myself from “bad energy” (I hate using quotes as if it’s just a metaphor for something that’s not really true). This last week was a doozy energy-wise. Part 1: What Happens When You Don’t Believe Anymore? November 13, 2014. Episcopal Church in Bluffton, SC 1854. When I delve i...

Through green colored glasses

Through green colored glasses. Saturday, August 8, 2015. Today my blog is about the upcoming PGA tournament at Whistling Straights. It is so cool to have it here again. I had the pleasure of working in the media tent when it was here back in 2004 and it was an experience of a lifetime! Happy, happy week! Saturday, August 1, 2015. We have quite a bit of custom work in the store at the moment and we love it! Saturday, July 25, 2015. Just coming off my vacation, so I'm a little rusty, but so ready to sew!

Through Green Eyes with Katie

Friday, December 17, 2010. Reflection: Weeks 13-14 Combined with Overall Course Reflection. So now I write our very last reflection for the semester. As always I will say it, “Where has our time gone? 8221; Seriously tho, this semester flew by way too fast. I will briefly cover weeks 13 and 14 in this final reflection. What a steal huh? This was a really cool experience for me because it allowed me to be creative and turn a regular piece of “junk” into something that I would use. It's been a good run.
