My name is Erik Antonelli and my trail name is Sir-Hikes-A-Lot. I thru-hiked the 1,200 mile Pacific Northwest National Scenic Trail to raise funds for a phenomenal non-profit in the Seattle area, the Washington Trails Association (WTA). Motivation - Thru-hiking for Kids

I feel these are critical times. Our youth are being inundated with social media, reality and violent TV, becoming habituated to video games and a whole host of other potential negatives that affect their social and psychological development. School violence is on the rise. Childhood obesity rates are at unacceptable levels. And kids today are too frequently exposed to and often adopting an it’s all about me approach to life. Our youth's connection with the natural world is declining.

WTA's Youth Program - Thru-hiking for Kids

WTA has been instrumental in introducing kids and teens to the outdoors. Their Youth Program grows annually and I would love to raise whatever I can to help fulfill their vision. WTA is devoted to helping our youth experience the natural world:. They have developed an Outdoor Leadership Training program. For teens in need to participate in their Youth Volunteer Vacation program. They partner with youth-based school and community groups to provide community service and stewardship opportunities.
