Inside Journalism: June 2011
http://insidejournalism.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 29 June 2011. I was recently linked to this. Fascinating piece by Gene Weingarten. For the Washington Post. I'm not here debating the reality of what he's saying, but I do question his opinion that this "branding" is new or bad. The idea of creating a persona outside of your own to further yourself, especially in work, is something I've always considered to be one that's fairly public. Public, practiced and unashamedly encouraged. Tuesday, 21 June 2011. Google chairman and CEO Eric Schmidt.

Inside Journalism: I Predict A Riot
http://insidejournalism.blogspot.com/2011/08/i-predict-riot.html
Wednesday, 10 August 2011. I Predict A Riot. Don't worry, even I'm not that. Off the pulse that I think covering the riots could be classed as a prediction. For those that are wondering, it's a song by some cheeky northerners. From a few years ago. London Protests Turn Violent. More importantly, read this blog post from Laurie Penny. On the UK riots. It's a little sensationalist, but then it's hard not to be when your city's being razed to the ground in front of you. Labels: Biased FIFA Coverage.

Friday, 10 February 2012. First post in nearly a million years, and it'll be another short one. I can't be bothered to keep updating this shit now that I don't get paid as much, so you can keep having short posts. I'll now use this space to recommend my favourite articles of the week from around the world! I'll try to alternate between the light-hearted and the serious. Inside Journalism: February 2012
http://insidejournalism.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
Friday, 17 February 2012. My old English teacher just posted this. On Facebook and I thought it would make a good article of the week. Not sure about the gimmicky script element, but it was interesting to think that here (England) our newspapers don't do things like this. There's no real competition between news outlets here, at least not as direct anyway. Perhaps this is a sign of how little they care for our custom? Or maybe they're just too honest to do what Suraiya has described? Http:/ www.thefo...

Inside Journalism: July 2011

Sunday, 24 July 2011. The Sunday Times and the Norway Tragedy. After the tragedy that occurred in Norway, the Sunday Times. A supposedly respectable British publication) felt the best way to lighten the mood or spark healthy discussion might be a cartoon. You might be forgiven for not immediately appreciating the reference, but this is a bastardized rehashing of what is arguably Norway’s most famous artwork, Edvard Munch’s ‘The Scream’.
