Tonya2ChIndia - Aug2010

I arose early – lots to do… and the party continued. Though it wasn’t on the breakfast buffet, the team scrounged up a gulab jamon and brought to my table. Who would have ever thought Bangalore could be a little piece of Heaven? We returned to the hotel for dinner. Sareen joined us and he and we enjoyed a fabulous lamb and prawn dinner along with another reunion with my Baluchi Boys. There was a ton of traffic at the hotel – for a birthday party for a two-year old! These people sure know how to entertain!

Tonya2ChIndia - Aug2010: Crossing the Pond.

http://www.tonya2chindia-aug2010.blogspot.com/2010/08/crossing-pond.html

I’m here. My luggage is here. My travelling colleague did not get off quite so easily as he was ‘Stranded in Seoul’ for the night. Flights out of the States were easy – but what is it with all the babies on the long treks across The Pond? Then the next would take his turn. Despite noise-cancelling headphones and the Glee soundtrack on iPad; it was a noisy ride. August 27, 2010 at 4:40 PM. When I was on the road all the time, I used to always say Id pay extra out of my own pocket for a separate terminal a...

Survival of the Sanest. Late late late Saturday night (28-August). Balu had taken special care to hand-pick my room (upper floor, with balcony, overlooking pool, near elevator… he knows my preferences) and had verified everything was perfect. These guys – I swear, I would be IMPOSSIBLE if I lived over here…. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Monday morning (30-August) The weather is on the . Survival of the Sanest. Around the World in . 8 Days? Wednesday, 25-August - weeeeeeee hours of the morning. This will be a fast one! I'll visit both China and India in just a little over a week - with almost as many nights spent sleeping on the plane as I am in hotels. I'm not sure how often I'll get to blog, but you know there's bound to be a story somewhere. I'll try to keep my pants on (see previous blog: http:/ tonya2chindia-again.blogspot.com/2010/04/tuesday-20-april-11am-i-dropped-my.html. Wednesday 6am - depart US.

Tonya2. The Series. Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness. Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness. To the portal for my collection of travel blogs known as The Tonya2 Series. I started this innocently enough in October 2007 when I made my first trek to India. I knew that I'd see and experience things that I'd want to capture and share with others - and selfishly,. I didn't want to have to share it dozens and dozens of times! Ed (and sometimes gagged). They...

College Composition 112 at Tidewater Community College. Reflection 2: Why I Write. When I first considered this exercise, I was convinced my reasons for writing did not fit with any of Orwell’s reasons. After assessing my actual writing, I have come to the conclusion Orwell was spot on with his claims. I find it surprising that nearly 70 years after this writing, his claims remain accurate and current. July 22, 2014. Sept 1974. http:/ tinyurl.com/2zcum. Np, 10 Oct. 2010. Np, nd. Tonya2 Beijing and Tokyo

Tonya2 Beijing and Tokyo. I can't shop here! JMRH - one last 'Hello Kitty' snap for you. Saturday – July 17, 4am. And it was absolutely fabulous. I bought a couple of ‘me’ souvenirs – an apron and a really nice knife that matches the other I bought at this market a couple of years ago. I was back to the hotel by 7am – time for a quick nap before I head out to Ginza for an hour or two of browsing (tooooo expensive here to shop! Thursday – July 15, 5pm. I know this is a delicate subject. but WOW! I heard b...

Wednesday, February 20, 2008. PS All luggage arrived intact. I'm home free now! Last Day in Beijing. My guide, Rina, said we had seen the whole city… She said if I had stayed another day, that we’d have to go out to the ‘burbs to see how the non-city folks live… We started the morning late since there were only a couple of stops on the itinerary – which was fine by me, as I had packing to do. So – here’s the silk story. After my silk shopping soiree (and a soiree it was! As in: “Like my new pearls? They ...

Tuesday 20-April (9pm): Handlers. This one is for Mom and Dad.). People often ask if I feel safe travelling alone outside the States, and I often respond that I’d have to try REALLY hard to get into trouble because I have so many handlers watching after me. Last night was a good reminder of just how ‘guarded’ I am here…. Tuesday 20-April (11am): I dropped my pants and he nearly fainted. He turned pale and started speaking excitedly in Hindi (or Kanada? Sunday 18-April (5pm): I do it myself! It’s no...

Sunday, November 2. Home - with friends. As if I weren’t spoiled enough alreadddddddyyyy! I was treated to an absolutely incredible lunch at the home of my new friend Shalini. Lovely home, complete with a housekeeper that works 7-4 e. Following an afternoon of laziness, we were prepped for another shopping excursion. The math just doesn’t add up: Michelle and Shalini aren’t “double-trouble” – they’re something on the magnitude of 1E 20! So first we were good girls, going to. Oh, how I love India. 8211; a...

Tonya2India... again!

The day started with a trip to my favorite church – St. Francis Xavier, a nearby Catholic church. Completed renovations just after my last trip and was looking lovely on the celebration of Feast Day with streamers and flowers all around the alter. Though the English Mass was lovely (always is), I admit that the best part of being there was seeing Mr. and Mrs. Quinn (my friend Michelle’s parents). I seem to have adopted them as my Indian godparents. In fact, I wore a. I can’t discuss it here, becaus...

Tonya2 India - April 2012. Thursday - April 27. All work and no play the last two days. Things have been HOPPING here at the office. It's now time to leave my beloved Bangalore and I struggled to say goodbye. These guys have been like extended family the last four years and I began to miss them before I even headed for the door. Tonya2India - June2010

National State of Emergency. Wednesday - June 23, 9pm. Me better (and the spiral gulab jamons would make me feel. Better). I had wait staff telling me they'd pray for me when they did their puja last night. You'd think The Dalai Lama was on his deathbed! Staff have begged me to go to the hospital. Never fear, Mom, a hospital over here is the equivalent of walking into a Minute Clinic in the States. Remind me never never never to get ill over here again. But if has one bright side - I. I'm loved. :-).
