Tony Ralph. Ridgeway. Sorted. Wednesday, 31 July 2013. Day 8: Wiggington to Ivinghoe Beacon. Sorry to repeat the same old stuff, but it really was lovely walking again, with distant views to the West as we worked our way up to the Beacon. Not as challenging a final ascent as we had feared, it was all rather gradual and pleasant. First view of the Beacon, about 2 miles to go. Thanks Tony you have been a great companion for the past week, hope we'll do another one before too long. It was actually a terrifi...

Tony Ralph. Ridgeway. Sorted. Wednesday, 24 July 2013. Day 1: East Kennett to Ogbourne St George. Having planned this for so long, a sense of unreality hung over the first steps. Tony and I posed for photos at the start point like self-conscious Polar explorers about to embark on the Endeavour:. Both looking slightly camp like two down-at-heel actors off to audition for roles in the Archers. These rather miserable photos:. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Tony Ralph. Ridgeway. Sorted. Sunday, 28 July 2013. Day 4: Letcombe Regis to Goring. 15 miles, mostly rather boring. A real trudge, and the Ridgeway was mostly flat (though elevated), with little of interest in the long distance views on our left hand side throughout the day, with the possible exception of Didcot Power Station, which dominates the mid-ground view. Reaching Streatly (which is next to Goring, you go from one to the other by walking over the Thames bridge). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Tony Ralph. Ridgeway. Sorted. Wednesday, 31 July 2013. Day 6: Watlington to Princes Risborough. Down to 2 in the afternoon, and a walk to Princes Risborough through more rolling countryside. A bit of a trudge as we descended into town at the end of the walk, but a 13 mile day accomplished and we felt OK! This was a Good Day. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Our walks: Sunday 18th May: The Somerset Levels

http://ourwalks.blogspot.com/2013/05/sunday-18th-may-somerset-levels.html

Margaret and Ralph love to go walking. Tuesday, 28 May 2013. Sunday 18th May: The Somerset Levels. I did this 9 mile hike alone as M was in London with Claire. Mostly very enjoyable (and flat) apart from the 2 mile stretch on the bank of the River Tone, which was overgrown with rape and rather a struggle. According to an update of Geoff's website, these information boards have now gone! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The Ridgeway. July 2013. Holiday in Cevennes 09. Blaize Bailey - 12 May 2013.

Margaret and Ralph love to go walking. Sunday, 23 June 2013. Saturday 22nd June 2013 - Wetmoor Wood. The second time we have done this. A lovely walk, with one difficult bit where the path had been transformed by the cattle who roam freely within the wood into Paschendaele. Except with lots of brambles and low branches. Margaret and Ralph love to go walking. Sunday, 18 November 2012. Sunday November 18th - The Marlborough Downs. Sunday, 4 November 2012. Saturday November 3rd - Kennett and Avon Canal. M's idea. found a very pleasant 8.5 mile walk from WW1, with dry, walkable surfaces. Enough to interest us (if not stunning), and all dire weather predictions proved unfounded, so a really enjoyable day out. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). The Ridgeway. July 2013. Holiday in Cevennes 09. Margaret and Ralph love to go walking. Monday, 4 June 2012. Monday 4th June - Avebury: A Stone-Age Perambulation. Another great Mullett walk, 11 miles with Ellie. This was a very open walk, with many distant, if not spectacular views, and the interest of Avebury's prehistoric stones and tumuli throughout much of the time. Silbury Hill was the start point of the walk. You are not allowed to climb it now for 'Environmental Protection'. but many people do. Why has this wall got a roof? Holiday in Cevennes 09.

Margaret and Ralph love to go walking. Sunday, 2 December 2012. 2nd December 2012 - Cleeve Hill. These were views over the Severn Valley to the Malvern Hills. We also got great views of Cheltenham, both city and racecourse, during the first half of the walk. The second half was rather dull. Lovely pint and toasted sandwich in the clubhouse at the end for which we were mysteriously undercharged! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). The Ridgeway. July 2013. http://ourwalks.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html

Margaret and Ralph love to go walking. Sunday, 30 September 2012. Saturday 29th September - Mynydd Machen. A 'strenuous but extremely rewarding' walk in the Welsh Hills, 11 miles on a beautiful September day. The weather was changeable, and often breezy, but much of the six hours this walk took us was under a bright blue sky, and we were often warmed by the sun. And bright yellows (which this picture does not do justice to), oranges and reds emerging. It was around this point where we had to stand aside ...
