Sometimes I like to write stuff down. Another Year of Movies. Posted by That Mash Guy. On Monday, January 05, 2015. I didn't watch as many this year mainly because of the move back to Birmingham and no TV for a few months. I still made it through a fair few though. Went to the cinema more than I did for a while too due to free tickets via my old healthcare plan. As always a lot of my favourite films ended up being old films that I watched for the first time in 2014. I recently came across Letterboxd.

Sometimes I like to write stuff down. On the coverage of my City. Posted by That Mash Guy. On Wednesday, August 10, 2011. A young man on Newsnight stated that in the 70s and 80s people lost respect for the police and now this generation have lost the fear of the police too. Nothing can stand between a fiend and his Nike. There are many things we can blame for this; successive governments are to blame, the police are to blame and parents too. But this blog isn't realy about that. I'm fully aware that Lond...

Sunday, April 5, 2015. On Vogue's #MyChoice Video. A MATTER OF CHOICE. The question really is of individual choices and individual freedoms to make those choices. The idea of choice in the video is overweeningly individualistic- a choice of one’s own that refuses to take into consideration any factor outside of the self and its interest; a self-centred choice; a selfish choice. This message is disconcerting for reasons beyond the gender debate which the video is about. 8216;Pairs symbolize sharing, unity...

Sometimes I like to write stuff down. Los Roques, Venezuela. Posted by That Mash Guy. On Friday, May 27, 2011. We got to Caracas at 11pm and quickly made our way to a hotel for the night. We had been told that because it was easter week it was nigh on impossible to get flights out to Los Roques, the final destination of our trip. In the morning we had a quick breakfast at a coffee shop owned by a chinese lady and then jumped in a cab to the domestic terminal of the airport. On our final day we decided no...

Sometimes I like to write stuff down. Favourite Films (and book) of 2012. sort of. Posted by That Mash Guy. On Wednesday, January 02, 2013. Some of these are listed just for not being crap and a decent watch if you have nothing to do. Not all 2012 films. Just the ones I watched first time last year. The best film I watched all year was Lawrence of Arabia at the BFI in November but I'd watched it a couple of times previously so it's not listed. The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance. Tucker and Dale vs Evil.

Sometimes I like to write stuff down. Two Whiteboys do a History of Rap. Posted by That Mash Guy. On Monday, November 26, 2012. Now don't get me wrong this is cool and all, I appreciate white people appreciating/adopting/appropriating other people's cultures as much as the next guy and I know it's all love. But I while watching this I just could not get past the irony of seeing two white guys do a history of Rap while being backed by the best Hip-Hop band of all time. View my complete profile.

Tuesday, June 30, 2015. On the Legalization of Homosexual Marriage in the United States. RAINBOW TINTED LENSES AND BLACK N WHITE UNIVERSES. Pakistan’s vibrant social media also reflected these divergent trends with a furious melee between those sporting rainbow coloured profiles and those invoking the wrath of God over the supporters of the new law. This presumption of moral superiority by the secular liberals at home and abroad is based on the idea that the conservative dissenters merely hold on with bl...

Friday, 31 December 2010. When all of that mattered? When none of this will. Saturday, 25 December 2010. The song was now tied to her. To the thought. the memory. the sound. the feel. The scent. the. And after today. after what came next. He knew he'd never be able to listen to it. Not even the chords of it. Monday, 6 December 2010. You knew it was selfish when you said the words. And you felt them drop. In the chasm you'd created. And for all that you expected the emptiness,. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
