Travel with Tarsh

Monday, December 26, 2011. I had actually experienced mild attitude sickness in Arequipa so I was geared up with coca leaves, aspirin and other local herbs in preparation for the height in Cusco and Machu Picchu. When first arriving in Peru, I had no intention of doing Machu Picchu but it’s a very big part of why so many people visit Peru, so thought I’d better check out what all the fuss is about. We were up and at breakfast by 7 and on the road by 7.30. Day 2 was the toughest – it was a 1...We stopped ...

Travel with Tarsh: July 2010

http://travelwithtarsh.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html

Thursday, July 29, 2010. Our last days in Kenya. Alex, a local Maasai Jane and I spent most of our time with in the camps, took off my glasses and wiped away my tears while wispering in my ear 'be strong tarshy, be strong'. Another said 'don't be sad, our bodies may be apart, but our hearts will remain as one'. Oh my god! I love them all and to leave is bloody hard. It's true though, that you have to leave in order to come back again! I am absolutely stoked, what a fantastic amount and thank you all so v...

Travel with Tarsh: May 2010

http://travelwithtarsh.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html

Sunday, May 30, 2010. Holly molly, what a surprising country! I only allowed only 4 days to see everything on my list in Egypt and albeit quick – it was just enough. Immediately after arriving though, I knew I could have stayed longer. Despite what I was prepared for, following what I had heard and read, the people were absolutely wonderful! Anyone heading to Cairo? I would definitely recommend the Arabesque Hotel! Yeah, yeah poor me…. One of the most inconceivable things I have seen in my travels has be...

Travel with Tarsh: August 2011

http://travelwithtarsh.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html

Friday, August 26, 2011. An action packed week. Allow me to introduce you to Somar! I met her at the Mt Kenyan retreat a few weeks ago. She is Australian and started her own NGO in Kenya 2 years ago. I cannot believe how similar our backgrounds are! We hit it off the first day we met, probably because we both share the same passions, speak at lightning speed, can have 4 different conversations going at once while still completely understanding each other. Uhh, it was heaven. It was great to see some of t...

Travel with Tarsh: October 2011

http://travelwithtarsh.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html

Monday, October 31, 2011. Last days in Peru. The sunsets in Peru have really lovely but it's difficult to be in the right (safe) place at the right time and having dinner prepared for us at 6.30pm (right on sunset) it can be tough to catch. This was taken one Sunday night in a taxi on the way back from the beach. Most places in Peru have flush toilets but as the sewer system is so inufficient, you are unable to flush toilet paper down the toilet – not even in the airport! Brazil - here I come! We then wa...

Travel with Tarsh: November 2011

http://travelwithtarsh.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html

Tuesday, November 29, 2011. Formula 1 Grand Prix. Wow, AMAZING week. The experience of the Sao Paulo F1 GP is one Jeff and I find difficult to put into words. It was simply amazing. They predicted storms and it threatened to rain all day but the atmosphere, the people the weather, the track, the beers all of it was excellent. I didn’t know what had happened. We had one of the cheaper seats for the 3 days and we could see an unbelievable amount of the track. Saturday, November 26, 2011. We arrived in the ...
