Do I Run For Fun Or Is It Fun To Run? Friday, November 24, 2006. November 23 - Oh Crap! I'm definitely not a happy camper today, a torn hamstring while playing touch has pretty much put paid to my thoughts of doing the Knox Half in December. Was really filthy after I had done it, as we were leading 7-0 and it was late in the game, and then it just popped! I could rant and rave, but that's not going to do me any good, so now it's focus on my recovery and make sure I do everything to avoid a recurrence.

I deserve excellence and do not accept mediocracy. Wednesday, 10 January 2007. Well, this is my first post of the new year. And my first week of training for the Rotorua Marathon (RM) 28 April. I had a wonderful break over christmas with not much happening except eating, walking on the beach with only dipping the toe in the ocean because it was too damned cold and lots of sitting in the sun sheltered from a yuk southerly wind. I do have nice tan mind you. Thursday - walk to the gym, workout and walk home.

Friday, April 21, 2006. Got a run in. Went to The Tan on Wed morning before work and did a lap. Happy enough with the knee both during and more importantly, after the run. I did notice that Anderson St has gotten steeper since I was last there in Feb. Also notice that there seems to be a high proportion of girls (most of them fast! Running at the Tan in the mornings (compared to the pool of runners I see at other locations). Just an observation. I'm certainly not complaining. Go girls! For the knee. ...

Conditions were favourable - no wind and not really that cold! The event commenced on time as it is customary with events organised by Sri Chinmoy. I returned to the track again today and I truly enjoyed running 8kms. I run with someone I work with and we run two laps around The Tan. Afterwards I did some sprinting and made me feel really good. No running - not even across the street - I can tell you it's very very frustrating! This evening I had a loud knock at my door when I opened it I realised today was Halloween! Forgot to buy chocolates but I was a good fellow and gave these children at my door a huge Lindt chocolate block I had for later on. I grew up celebrating the Day of the dead , but what it is?

Intervals along Coastal Path. 5.30 am start. 8 kilometres. Thursday - No run. Rescheduled for Friday but it did not happen at the end. I entered the Melbourne Marathon last Friday. So I am committed. I twisted my ankle not once but twice. So this evening instead of venturing out to meet the regular Monday night group I am at home nurturing my twisted ankle.
