The Trotting Tortoise: Tummy Troubles & a Tempo Tuesday
http://trottingtortoise.blogspot.com/2013/01/tummy-troubles-tempo-tuesday.html
A blog by a slow girl who gets the “Runner’s Trots". Seen on the Road. 2 Cents and Tips. Wednesday, January 2, 2013. Tummy Troubles and a Tempo Tuesday. The original plan for this post was to write about the tempo run that the boyfriend nudged me through, resulting in a successfully quick 4 miles @ 9:30 pace, including a big hill and lots of snow. Remember the Michigan snow? It was particularly deep on the trail we brilliantly followed around a lake. I decided to "follow" her [I'm very. And workout relat...

The Trotting Tortoise: October 2012
http://trottingtortoise.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html
A blog by a slow girl who gets the “Runner’s Trots". Seen on the Road. 2 Cents and Tips. Wednesday, October 31, 2012. Halloween in NYC this Year. The weather has kept me in NYC for the week instead of Boston-suburb-bound, as is my usual weekly trek these days. While home, Im trying to take advantage of not having to eat three meals a day in a restaurant, and having the opportunity to work around my own schedule, which means the chance to build in some workouts and cook some nutritious meals. AndI even s...

Running-girl's Reflections: THE AGONY OF “THE FEET”
http://runninggirlsblog.blogspot.com/2009/05/agony-of-feet.html
Wednesday, May 20, 2009. THE AGONY OF “THE FEET”. Bone spurs, shin splints, plantar fasciitis, tendonitis, ankle sprains, IT band syndrome. These are common injuries suffered by runners. I’ve been fortunate to not experience a single running injury in all my years of running…until now. People go through injuries all the time, but you can never really understand the magnitude of the pain until it affects you. The pain that I am referring to is not just physical, it is emotional. 8220;What am I going to do?
Running-girl's Reflections: HILLS!
http://runninggirlsblog.blogspot.com/2009/08/hills.html
Monday, August 31, 2009. The dreaded 4-letter word. A mere mention of the word and runners are quick to respond. I hear it all the time—the sighs and groans of runners-in-training at the base of a hill. They respond with statements like, “Are you ready for the hill? 8220;This is going to be painful,” “I’m gonna die,” and “Let’s get this over with! As a seasoned runner, I too, can feel dismayed just hearing those comments. It makes a little hill sound like a huge mountain, which can be discouraging. As in...
Running-girl's Reflections: Crossing the Finish Line
http://runninggirlsblog.blogspot.com/2009/05/crossing-finish-line.html
Tuesday, May 26, 2009. Crossing the Finish Line. Dedicated to my Team In Training teammates of the Silicon Valley/Monterey Bay Chapter, North/Mid-Peninsula team. Most people training for their first marathon are overwhelmed by the 26.2 miles they would have to run. 8220;I just want to finish,” they’d say. But crossing the finish line is more than “just finishing.”. I remember my first marathon: (The 2006 Honolulu Marathon). The deafening cheers brought a smile to my face. You become a marathoner. You ga...
Running-girl's Reflections: Got Water?
http://runninggirlsblog.blogspot.com/2011/10/got-water.html
Wednesday, October 5, 2011. Water is cooling. Water is refreshing. Water is quenching. I can’t go on a run without carrying a water bottle or wearing a hydration pack- no matter what the distance is. It’s like a safe haven for me. I like to be prepared and would hate to be without water when I need it most. My routes don’t offer water options. I don’t always have the luxury of water fountains or convenience stores conveniently placed on my route. So I bring my own water. This led me to my poll questions.

Running-girl's Reflections: Encouraging Words
http://runninggirlsblog.blogspot.com/2009/04/encouraging-words.html
Friday, April 17, 2009. When my friends learned that I ran marathons, I received mixed reactions like, “Wow, that’s amazing. I wish I could run 26.2 miles like you,” to “You’re crazy! Why would you want to run 26.2 miles? Unless you participate in an organized run, you’ll never understand the excitement and thrill of being a part of a race. It’s very exciting to be among thousands of runners with a passion for running, and in the midst of the energy that they bring. This is what keeps us going. It’...
Running-girl's Reflections: HOW LOSING MY KEYS HELPED ME FIND MY MOJO
http://runninggirlsblog.blogspot.com/2012/07/how-losing-my-keys-helped-me-find-my.html
Sunday, July 8, 2012. HOW LOSING MY KEYS HELPED ME FIND MY MOJO. I know, it's a stretch. What do keys have to do with mojo! It’s been an unbelievable month. I lost 3 keys in 2 weeks and lost my running mojo too. Image from www.Ilovesurf.com. I’ve never lost my keys before (pause) well, not that many in a short period of time. I lost my padlock keys, post-office box keys, and office keys. Incredibly, I found them all! It took me 3 steps to do it. 3) Ask for help. And a little bit of luck! 3) I wouldn̵...

This event provided an easy-going atmosphere for newbie and seasoned athletes looking to impress their family and friends with their athleticism. No frills here except for serious physical action. Here’s my review of the Mermaid Series Duathon:. The transition area also opened ...

Cruising Subfertility
A 30 year olds unwelcome (SIF in)fertility journey. Tuesday, May 22, 2012. I have a secret. A secret that if you look to the right of this blog will tell you that I am expecting. I conceived on a natural cycle, in a cycle frought with mistrust, misgivings, confusion and much crying. A cycle I and my RE expected to fail, and honestly we still cannot believe it worked.
