Thinking out loud: March 2010
http://vigyangadodia.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
Monday, March 8, 2010. Rural Un-employment – Lot to Learn. I recently visited 4 villages, where I met a lot of village parents, who have opted to send their children to our English Medium school. I took the opportunity to discuss an issue, which keeps troubling me about rural un-employment. In most houses I visited there is at least one “Son”, who is sitting idle at home. Education varies from 10. Fail to BA pass (and some time BA and B.Ed.). So, why are they sitting at home and not working? A senior col...

Thinking out loud: Train Musings - A Government Job
http://vigyangadodia.blogspot.com/2010/05/train-musings-government-job.html
Friday, May 7, 2010. Train Musings - A Government Job. A government laborer’s perspective. I met this interesting old man (Mr. Ashok Kumar), one of the un-reserved passenger, not carrying a ticket for himself or family, flashing his Railway Labor card going till Khertal (2 Hrs from Jaipur) along with a pregnant lady after attending a wedding at Jaipur. He showed me his balding head, stating that he will not be able to do much lifting on the head after retirement anyway. Posted by Vigyan Gadodia. Train Mu...

Thinking out loud: Imagine India
http://vigyangadodia.blogspot.com/2010/05/imagine-india.html
Friday, May 7, 2010. I was reading an article India@75 by Mr. Prahalad and felt it appropriate to adopt from it here:. If we cannot imagine the India we want, we cannot create it. Adopted from a speech by Mr. C. K. Prahlad. I just posted this though here today, as i have been debating the attitude limitation in Rural India as one of the challenges and came across this. Thinking out loud: December 2009
http://vigyangadodia.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html
Tuesday, December 8, 2009. Rural Tourism and Rural Development. Rural Tourism - Are "Family Rotations" good? I am running multiple businesses targeted at increasing income in Rural India. One such business is Rural Tourism. The objective is to provide Quality Experience (Homestay / Hotels / Activity experience) to tourists, while enhancing income for host families. Possibly in a season). And then do rotation (change host families). The logic was simple:. Current Status –. Some host families maintain thei...

Thinking out loud: Ockham's razor
http://vigyangadodia.blogspot.com/2010/05/ockhams-razor.html
Monday, May 17, 2010. Just came across this very interesting word in my Wordsmith subscription ("A Word a Day"). It's the idea that other things being equal, among two theories the simpler one is preferable. Why razor? Because Ockham's razor shaves away unnecessary assumptions. Well, in reality, most of the time we can live with a “Decision gone wrong”,. But what we can not live with is a “Decision not taken”. Posted by Vigyan Gadodia. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Thinking out loud: November 2009
http://vigyangadodia.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
Wednesday, November 25, 2009. Rural Education - Free Vs Paid Education. Let me put across my point a little differently covering a broader spectrum of education. Free Education is not compulsory and definitely not sufficient for a country". 1 maturity, intelligence and established commitment of students applying at these institutions, further ensured by strict screening tests, and. 2 the strict governance (and monitoring of teachers) in these institutions. Unfortunately does not immediately ensure you a ...

Thinking out loud: February 2010
http://vigyangadodia.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
Thursday, February 11, 2010. Letting "goodness" get you. A small incident that disturbed me for almost one full day. Very recently an ex-colleague (read "Employee") called me by name instead of "sir" primarily as a sign of independence from me (though he still called me "sir" on call). I felt really bad, asking myself "why shall i get this disrespect, when i have always done my very best to handhold my team and even handle the separation with complete sincerity". Than business principals will drive the w...
