The Misadventures of a Part-Time Misfit. Target Doesn’t Believe In Fat People. December 14, 2014. Target: Missing the point since forever. Can you believe it? A place where fat people can buy clothes. From a single brand. Because Target only markets one brand of plus size women’s clothing (Pure Energy). At least that’s what it’s supposed to look like. Do you know what it actually is, though? Then, at checkout, Skinny Target Boy complains about how he wishes women wouldn’t buy from the Men’s d...Thing is,...

The Misadventures of a Part-Time Misfit. March 17, 2014. My best friend is a dragon. Does that sound unkind or like an exaggeration? Please let me explain. I don’t mean the fire-breathing kind or even the water-type. She’s no dragon you’ve ever seen before. She is a stone dragon. At first glance, she’s gorgeous, polished and while she will remain in your mind as a unique impression, she is far from tame. Today is her anniversary. She married an amazing man and together they are raising a wonderful so...

The Misadventures of a Part-Time Misfit. It’s Sportsball Season Again. September 8, 2013. Sportsball season because Jesus doesn’t want me to be happy, I guess. Anyway, I figured this was a perfect. Opportunity to explain how much I don’t grok about any sportsball. Any. And what’s more, if you tried to explain it to me, honestly, I’m gonna start humming Pachabel’s. NOBODY MENTION THE SQUID PORN. Did I mention the razor blades? Oh Well, also razor blades. And I don’t care what you say: stick puckey i...

Desperately Lonely. Infactorium. It’s human nature to want to distinguish ourselves as separate, but also to band together. So we find ourselves in groups and insist that our group is the best. If our group is the best, then any and every other group can’t be as good, so they of course don’t deserve what we don’t want them to have. Like basic human rights. Correcting it is going to be a long process, but first we need to acknowledge that it’s something that needs correcting. That it is WRONG.

Equality vs. Equity. I read somewhere recently, and I can’t remember where right now (damn it! Something that clicked in a major way for me. What is being sought is not equality for everyone. Laquo; Owning my SJW badge, nammit. Okay, I’ve actually carefully avoided using the name, but now I have something to say. Probably not anything new, but here it is. Some of the GamerGaters have a bit of a point. The part where some of them have a point is that there ARE radical whatever-wave feminists railing against The Patriarchy who’ve latched onto anti-GamerGate as their platform of choice. There are misandrist jerks just like there are misogynist jerks. By Kes on November 1st, 2014. 10 That Deaf Guy.

Dead Cells horror anime podcast – Highschool of the Dead. August 3, 2015. But before we get into fun, I want to touch on zombies for a second. I’m not a huge zombie fan, but really wish there were more zombie anime. They lend themselves wonderfully to the genre and while there is an overabundance of zombie tv, film and literature, not many anime exist. I mean, Is This a Zombie? Not only my most favourite of all, Bind Torture Kast. So yeah, Highschool of the Dead began as manga written by Daisuke Satō and...

Autism and Challenging behaviour: Part 1. Prevalence of challenging behaviour amongst autistic people. Apparently challenging behaviours are common amongst people who are autistic. There is a wealth of research that concludes this, however I am cautious of the prevalence figures I read. Here’s an example of why caution is needed: Matson, Wilkins and Macken (2009) reported that up to 94% (! My next post is going to be about the label ‘challenging behaviour’ and how its use has changed over the years.
