Migrant's Wanderings: November 2013
http://migrantswanderings.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
Friday, 15 November 2013. Question: If you had the resources, would you attempt one HUGE project? I enjoy looking at other peoples' super-projects though, like the Scale Model World showstopping Steam-Punk Bugatti. Superbly conceived and built by Stefano Marchetti. The humbling reality is that even if I had a decade. To spend on such a model, I'd never be able to achieve anything like this. (Photos by Darrell Thompson, used with permission). Yet Another Plastic Modeller. Tuesday, 5 November 2013.

Fill 'n Sand: Airbrushed prop blur discs.
http://fillnsand.blogspot.com/2011/06/prop-blur-discs.html
My kind of plastic fun. Saturday, 18 June 2011. Airbrushed prop blur discs. I like aircraft models in flight, and I like representing the spinning prop, like in the war comics I grew up reading. So here is how I make mine. I use a mask/template and then airbrush the blur on to a clear plastic disc. I tried freehand masking but the edges of the blur did not look sharp enough. So after buying a circle cutter I set out to make the mask/template. Blur section cut out. First blade blur done, and second started.

Fill 'n Sand: September 2012
http://fillnsand.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
My kind of plastic fun. Saturday, 29 September 2012. Fujimi 1/72 P-47 Thunderbolt - painting. Well I didn't leave the primer long enough to dry and had some scrape off, so I sanded it back and tried airbrushing it on. Gace it a good few days, then sprayed some white for the yellow, and invasion stripes, sprayed the yellow, and left for a couple of days. Masked up for the black today, and tonight sprayed the black and olive drab. Tuesday, 11 September 2012. Then had a play with some Vallejo primer. Well I...

Some excellent sources of reference material, modelling friendship and inspiration exist on the internet; these are a few of my favourites. Perhaps the most well-known of the scale modelling ‘webzines’, an excellent source of information. Reviews, reference info and a very active discussion board. The emphasis here is on good shots of Canadian aircraft but there are some USAF subjects too. If you like T-33s and CF-18s, stop by here. Check this site before you buy/build a kit! Migrant's Wanderings: June 2012
http://migrantswanderings.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
Sunday, 24 June 2012. Euro 2012 Part two. Work continues on the Revell 1/32 Eurofrighter. For a modern-tool kit released in the last 4 years it's a shockingly poor fit. The wing-root on top; it's even worse on the underside. The wing root trailing edge – not just a gap but a step as well. Lots of filling and sanding required to achieve a smooth tail transition. Besides the sloppy fit there are numerous sink marks all over the airframe, the slats and airbrake seem to be the worst affected:.

Fill 'n Sand: Hobby Boss - 1/72 Me 262 - decals and done.
http://fillnsand.blogspot.com/2012/05/hobby-boss-172-me-262-decals-and-done.html
My kind of plastic fun. Wednesday, 2 May 2012. Hobby Boss - 1/72 Me 262 - decals and done. Decals went on well, apart from the trailing edge walkways ones, which kept on folding up, and the fuselage stripe, whose edges shattered, so I replaced it with a Revell Me 262 one. Well what can I say. it's the first time I have built one of these easy assembly kits and I am a convert, what fun, crisp mouldings, go together well with a little fettling, and plenty of room to modify them, very enjoyable. I have been...
