Make Your Own Gear! Monday, June 20, 2011. Training for the JMT. After a long 3 week break from hiking, I'm back in full training mode. It wasn't very good timing, but we moved right at the time when I should have been training hard for my upcoming JMT thru-hike. Although moving is good exercise, it's definitely not hiking. A quick stop to take a glance across the valley, this is a beautiful camp site on a cliff just off the trail. Hmmm.maybe I'll camp here next weekend. Less than a mile from the peak, H...

Movement of the sea, used to get home in a fog. Friday, 26 December 2014. On Christmas Eve I had a nasty bike accident while out with Beren on his bike. Of all places it happened on the emergency helicopter landing pad for the hospital! The metal of the chain actually split! Not good on a bike less than 1 month old and not in any sort of challenging situation. On a positive note, my back is fine! Not a bad view. A bit of a lovers tiff going on here I think! It's not many places you can go shopping, have ...

Movement of the sea, used to get home in a fog. Sunday, 30 November 2014. Da Lang Clodie Wick; a hike-a-bike up north. After another period of weeks without being able to do much due to back problems things are finally on the up and despite an iffy forecast I decided to take my new bike out for a ride on from North Roe out to the coast at Da Lang Clodie Wick. Here's a view of Da Lang Clodie Wick from where I left the bike. The pissing horse' not the nicest name for a waterfall, but fairly appropriate.
