Um, What Are You Doing?

Um, What Are You Doing? Tuesday, July 29, 2014. We were blessed with a couple of bushels of peaches recently. And what a delicious blessing it was! I turned a bunch of the peaches into jam, which is my family's number 1 favorite jam. (Blackberry follows a close second.). And today, I made this amazingly fresh, sweet and spicy salsa. I liked it so much that I made another batch and canned it. 5 cups of diced peaches. 1 cup of diced tomatoes. 1 diced bell pepper. 1 cup diced onion. 3 jalapenos, minced.

Um, What Are You Doing?: May 2012

http://www.umwhatareyoudoing.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html

Um, What Are You Doing? Tuesday, May 22, 2012. I remember eating this dessert a long, long time ago before I knew much about cooking. I might even have been a kid at the time. I remember thinking when I ate it that whoever had made it must be the Best Cook Ever. It combines refreshingly sweet strawberries, cream cheese, and a buttery sweet and salty crust. It is so good and worth the few steps involved in making it. If you take it to a potluck, maybe you will become the Best Cook Ever to someone. In a me...

Um, What Are You Doing?: September 2011

http://www.umwhatareyoudoing.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html

Um, What Are You Doing? Tuesday, September 27, 2011. My personal chef, Sugar Baby, made these for us yesterday. They were good, but a little too sweet for most of us. I was surprised to find there was no added salt in the peanut butter mixture (only what already came in the peanut butter). So, to add some saltiness, I sprinkled sea salt on the finished product. That's more like it! Sugar Baby got the recipe from allrecipes (just want to give credit where credit is due! 1 1/2 cups creamy peanut butter.

Um, What Are You Doing?: Easy Granola Bars

http://www.umwhatareyoudoing.blogspot.com/2012/02/easy-granola-bars.html

Um, What Are You Doing? Thursday, February 2, 2012. I like these granola bars because they are easy, versatile, and all of my kids like them! 4 cups of oats (instant or old fashioned)b. 1 cup of brown sugar. 1 cup of applesauce (today I substituted pumpkin butter and no one noticed). 2 tsp of baking powder. 2 cups of all-purpose flour. 1/2 cup of honey. 1/2 cup of chocolate chips. 1/4 cup of chopped nuts (today I used sunflower seeds). Um, What Are You Doing? Tuesday, August 16, 2011. Rosemary Ranch Chicken Kabobs. We eat quite a bit of grilled chicken around here. It is so simple, delicious and reduces the amount of cleanup in the kitchen. (That last part is the most important.). Usually, I marinate the chicken in zesty italian dressing or mojo sauce and then grill them and they are soooo good. Like, company good. I had never done kabobs before, but since we had a box of 1,000 wooden skewers (think cake pops), I thought I'd try them.

http://www.umwhatareyoudoing.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html

Um, What Are You Doing? Tuesday, May 31, 2011. The strawberries in the garden are still coming in! My girl Sugar Baby whipped up a batch of shortbread yesterday and just as it came out of the oven, one of the boys brought in another bowl of strawberries. I looked at the shortbread and I looked at the strawberries and the wheels started turning. there was cream cheese in the fridge. we could do some kind of fruit pizza! So eventually we ended up with these cute little delicious bites. 5 cups of flour.

Savoring the Circus: November 2011

http://savoringthecircus1.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html

Friday, November 18, 2011. Queenie's got a loose tooth! The name Savoring the Circus is really taking on more meaning these days. I can't believe how fast my gang is growing. Wednesday, November 9, 2011. Mae has become a fixture around here. She's officially one of us. At night she trots from room to room, taking a nap in each. She snores, stretches, grunts like a large bear, and rolls over on her back to sleep some more. She pathetically lowers her head and then looks up at you with pitiful eyes.

Savoring the Circus: January 2012

http://savoringthecircus1.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html

Saturday, January 28, 2012. Today, as part of Sugar Baby's birthday celebration, we headed east to the beautiful coast. First, we made cupcakes with my mother-in-law. Then we headed down to the beach and explored. It was such a beautiful day,. Sunny and just a little chilly. One of the boys found this egg sack and discovered tiny baby conchs inside. There are so many beautiful things at the beach. Take these barnacles for instance. Mr C found a tree to climb. (and pose in). The sunset on the way home.

Savoring the Circus: Dried Beans!

http://savoringthecircus1.blogspot.com/2014/08/dried-beans.html

Tuesday, August 19, 2014. I have a goal to try something new in our garden each year and this year the new thing was dried beans. We eat a lot of dried beans around here! The beans grew beautifully! I think they probably should have been supported (as in pole beans) but they were planted so thickly that they became woven together and held each other up for the most part. We began shelling them in an organized fashion. neat little piles of beans and neat piles of already opened pods. We ended up with a ga...

Savoring the Circus: Canning!

http://savoringthecircus1.blogspot.com/2014/08/canning.html

Sunday, August 10, 2014. Our garden has been producing abundantly this year! I think our blueberry bushes have produced at least 2 dozen gallons of berries this year. so many for eating fresh, freezing, giving away, and canning. The twins have loved picking and eating blueberries. They quickly learned which berries were not so good for eating. This guy would pick a berry and if it wasn't dark blue, he'd offer it to his brother. Our cupboard filled up quickly with the summer bounty. Um, What are you doing?

Savoring the Circus: Wondering...

http://savoringthecircus1.blogspot.com/2014/07/wondering.html

Tuesday, July 29, 2014. Wondering. I am wondering if I can keep up with this blog thing. Life and facebook have caused me to leave it by the wayside, but I am really wanting to pick it up again. For my own enjoyment mostly - to have a written and pictoral (is that a word? Record of our days. Because they are flying away too fast for my memory to keep up. So here's hoping I can be back here before another year goes by! July 29, 2014 at 6:12 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

Savoring the Circus: November 2012

http://savoringthecircus1.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html

Sunday, November 25, 2012. About a month ago we found out that our twins are boys! Gulp - that'll make FIVE boys total. I wonder if our house will hold up? Tomorrow will be 27 weeks and we're praying that these little guys will stay put for a while longer. I've had to seriously cut back on a lot of my normal activity in order to keep the contractions at bay. The time is ticking by s l o w l y. Thankfully though, I've got a house full of handy, helpful people! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Guerilla Art Liberation Lives. Please feel free to leave comments. Meetings Tuesday @ 9 pm. Sunday, November 2, 2008. My friend Jewels has posted numerous times on her LiveJournal about various zombie walks she's been on. According to her, the two best days to do a zombie walk are Halloween and Easter (since it was the day that Jesus rose from the dead and became a zombie). Ben decided that he had to dress in drag before he could be a zombie. And Everett was already Jesus. We found it difficult to contai...
