LOCAL PEOPLE'S LIVES TOUCHED BY UNITED WAY FUNDING. STORY SUBMITTED BY TOM BLACKEAGLE, VOLUNTEER CHORES SERVICE PROGRAM COORDINATOR. There was a call from an elderly woman who had desperation in her voice. I could hear mild sobbing as she explained her predicament. In recent years, in order to keep her in her home, her youngest son had helped her with everything gathering firewood, yard care, home repairs, transportation and shopping. But tragically, her son had recently been killed in a car accident.

Back Packs For Kids is a non-profit organization in Klickitat County, Washington and was founded in 2007 as a program to provide kids in need in the area with food for the weekend. We are a 501(c)3 organization and donations to us are tax deductible. Currently, we serve Goldendale, Klickitat, Lyle, Wishram, Roosevelt, Dallesport, Bingen and White Salmon schools. Back Packs For Kids | Golden Man Triathlon

The 5th annual Golden Man Triathlon is coming up quick! The triathlon is a collaborative effort between Back Packs For Kids and Central Klickitat County Park and Recreation District. Funds raised go to both organizations. It is open to everyone aged 14 and older. On Saturday, June 18, 2016, the triathlon will start with a 500-yard swim at the Goldendale Pool. Then a 14-mile bike ride, and finish with a 3.25-mile run. Participants will carry a timing chip for added accuracy. 2016 Golden Man Triathlon.
