Casual Japanese Bystander: February 2014
http://japanesebystander.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
February 19, 2014. Tokyo Bay via Kasai Seaside Park. At the edge of Kasai Seaside Park. Where you can play at the lip of Tokyo Bay. The views are quite good. This is Tokyo Gate Bridge. Highway rest stop Umihotaru is visible in the distance, sails ironically on land. Tokyo Disneyland and Disney Sea in the distance. I don't know the name of this bird, but it was dipping and diving like a cormorant. It seems to be a baby grebe? Remnants of a jellyfish. Looking back at the park again. Links to this post.

Casual Japanese Bystander: Elem Klimov's Come and See
http://japanesebystander.blogspot.com/2015/03/elem-klimovs-come-and-see.html
March 7, 2015. Elem Klimov's Come and See. All of this makes the film almost impossible to watch. And yet, it made me think, what good is there in making a war film that is amenable to the audience? I'm sure Hollywood war films are considered educational, but what is the value of a war film that reduces ideologies to a good side and a bad side, creates action scenes that offer an adrenaline rush and makes us cheer on the annihilation of human beings? Casual Japanese Bystander: April 2014
http://japanesebystander.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
April 27, 2014. Marché of the Sun, otherwise known as the Kachidoki Farmers Market. It began only September of last year, and sells fresh produce and natural products from farmers all over Japan. The market is held one weekend a month in the newly-developing Kachidoki area of Tokyo. It is either sponsored or "supported" by Mitsui Fudosan Residential, a real estate giant that most likely wants to entice visitors to move to the area. Which has a more traditional vibe. On the other hand, you get to see a lo...

Casual Japanese Bystander: June 2014

June 28, 2014. A Dash through Saint-Germain-des-Prés. These photos were taken while fast-walking through the Saint-Germain-des-Prés area, completely late for a dinner appointment. As far as I could see, it was very creatively inspiring area, with clusters of art galleries and bars/restaurants/cafes. If I were able to take a proper shot of this gallery, it would have made for a brilliant photo. Firmin Didot was a late 18th century printer, engraver, and type founder who revolutionized the printing process.

Casual Japanese Bystander: March 2014
http://japanesebystander.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
March 29, 2014. From El Nido to Taytay. Taytay, in the province of Palawan in the Philippines. (You pronounce it tai-tai, not tei-tei.) A small seaside municipality, it has a population of around 70,000. It takes about two hours to get there from the El Nido Airport. You pass a lot of simply-built shacks with water pumps in the yard and some chickens running around while a dog sleeps nearby and water buffaloes graze in the field. The driver braked for the dogs crossing the street. Links to this post.

Casual Japanese Bystander: May 2014
http://japanesebystander.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html
May 27, 2014. Rainbow Bridge by Night. Walked back across Rainbow Bridge at night. You can see Tokyo Tower on the right. The Harumi area again, with Sky Tree in the far distance. The Ferris wheel at Kasai Seaside Park. The Ferris wheel at Venus Fort. The Fuji TV office. The side with views of Tokyo Tower and Sky Tree is much more preferable to the side that shows a bunch of ports and factories. Links to this post. Labels and categories: Odaiba. Rainbow Bridge by Day. These stairs are not for pedestrians.
