Tuesday, March 27, 2012. Building A Fiberglass Hatch. Since a leaking flush-mount hatch led to the damage on the Mercedes, I decided to make a new raised-lip style one from scratch. The lip will be glued into the hole remaining from the old flush hatch, and the new hatch will fit properly over. Tools of the trade: Polyester Resin, MEKP catalyst, respirator, rollers and a Bondo squeegee to remove bubbles, cheap natural bristle paint brushes and plastic pails for mixing not shown. Acetone for clean up.

During the trials some things solicited for modification:. Jib sheets need clamcleats, over the coaming, like Spartina. Jib sheets get caught behind the outer cleats I placed on the deck. Friday, July 24, 2015. Every now and then, "A man's got to do what a man's got to do". and in my case, I had to move. The marina I was staying at had fixed docks and Wi-Fi that was not very dependable. The staff and most of the live-aboards there were nice enough, but the fixed docks caused issues for my old dog and the spotty Wi-Fi caused issues with a number of websites I maintain. So. I moved. Friday, June 19, 2015. I started plumbing the pressure water system today and I'll tell you, plumbing is confusing! It's not so hard as to the layout and where everything goes, but all the different size fittings, threads, types, etc., it took me almost an hour just to find the right fittings for Stage I. I chose to install blocks such that the sheet ran smoothly and straight into the cam cleats. Drilled two 2 cm holes, also in the 1cm ply backplate. Friday, July 3, 2015. After three phases of plumbing, numerous trips to Home Depot, Lowe's, and the local hardware store, and lots of kinks, (literal and figurative), I have pressure water baby! Wednesday, November 19, 2014. Well, I did it! I moved aboard Friday, November 14th and it has been great!
