Vic Laurens a 14 ans quand il découvre le rock par Little Richard, the Everly Brothers, Gene Vincent et les autres. Quatrième enfant de Pierre et Carméla d'Apra, et frère cadet de Tony d'Arpa - guitare rythmique et vocal des chaussettes noires - fils et petit fils de musicien, il apprend vite à jouer de la guitare. En écoutant ses chanteurs préférés, l'envie de chanter du rock lui vint très naturellement. Mais il a l'idée génial de présenter au fondateur du groupe des chaussettes noires son frère Tony.
