VAFA Purchases Multi-Media System for the Villisca Community Center. Pictured are children in the Library’s summer reading program which included some stories read on a video using the media center at the Community Center. The system came as a result of a search for a way to display the 80 composite photos that have been so carefully preserved. Overcoming a near fatal accident at the age of 13, Pat went on to distinguish himself graduating from VHS as an honor student and a member of the National Honor Society. He was the Class President in 1986. An outstanding student, Pat participated in chorus, science club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, marching band, stage band, jazz band, orchestra and many plays. Starting in 2009, VAFA took on the responsibility of planning an All-School Reunion celebration during the Villisca Heritage Days every four years. Pictured at the right is the 2013 All-School Reunion Alumni Choir in the city park. Directed by Kay (Lewis) Fast ’76, a very diverse group of individuals who love to sing joined together to fill the park with some great music. The next reunion will be held in 2017. First 50 Fun Day. The 2013/14 Villisca Girls Basketball team, by reaching the Iowa State Basketball Tournament, put an end to a 45 year drought in qualifying for the highly sought after prize. To honor their tremendous accomplishment and to keep reminding them of what a special season they had, VAFA presented each member of the team with a commemorative photo book filled with countless memories to keep forever.
