VK3 Show and Tell, Mt Wombat vk3/vu-002 and Procter vk3/vn-019 27th and 28th Sept 2014. October 10, 2014. A suitable venue was selected this would allow attendees to camp the night before if they wished, the opportunity to activate on the way down and the venue also offered plenty of local summit all still in the bonus points period for post S&T activations. I chose to do Mt Wombat on the way down, this is a great summit with plenty of setup up options, views and easy access from Euroa. A weekend of SOTA.
Four Summits on the AAWT, March 2015 | vk3byd
https://vk3byd.wordpress.com/2015/04/29/four-summits-on-the-aawt-march-2015
Four Summits on the AAWT, March 2015. April 29, 2015. I had notice that a number of summits sat on or near the Australian Alpine Walking Track. In particular, Mt Speculation, Mt Despair, The Razor, and The Viking. Also nearby were Mt Cobbler and the un-named summit VK3/VE-103. This area is changeling country and one should not go unprepared. Wayne VK3WAM joined us at short notice and his local knowledge made navigating easier. This entry was tagged sota. Galore Hill VK2 RI-047 28th February 2015. You are...
New box for the MTR | vk3byd
https://vk3byd.wordpress.com/2015/02/20/new-box-for-the-mtr
New box for the MTR. February 20, 2015. I have used a few different configurations for packing and operating with the MTR rig. Generally they revolved around a plastic storage box and either holding the key and note book or using a variation of the Sota Beams Flight Deck to support them. Left little room for the Key and battery. Having been on a few joint activations I had the opportunity to see how quickly the ‘817 owner could get on air, and this sent me on another search. This plastic box with its sep...

Mt McLeod vk3/ve-038 and Ulrich Peak vk3/ve-034, 19th and 20th June 2015. June 22, 2015. With the lure of bonus points and the expected great weather it was off to Mt McLeod (vk3/ve-034) and Ulrich Peak (vk3/ve-038). Mt McLeod trig and Ovens Valley. There visit did give me the chance to make comment on the hard to find track up to Andersons Peak which formed part of my intended route to Ulrich Peak. Ice Crystals rising out of the ground. Mt Torbreck and Bill Head revisited - VK3MRG Amateur Radio
http://vk3mrg.weebly.com/blog/mt-torbreck-and-bill-head-revisited
Mt Torbreck and Bill Head revisited. The prominent cairn on Mt Torbreck. Activated 22 June 2014. It was just short of a year since I last activated Mt Torbreck. I initially was going to head off and do Pyramid Hill next but as the car was already parked on Con Gap Road I thought I might as well attack Bill head from the north. In hindsight Pyramid Hill would probably have been easier. On my last activation of Bill Head. My operating position on Bill Head. Create a free website. Start your own free website.
Mt Vinegar revisited - VK3MRG Amateur Radio
http://vk3mrg.weebly.com/blog/mt-vinegar-revisited
Activated 21 September 2014. This was my second activation of Mt Vinegar with much better weather this time around compared with my first activation of this summit back on 2 June 2013. As soon as the FT-817 was set up, my first contact on 40 metres was an S2S with Rod VK2TWR on VK2/ST-020 and then worked a steady stream of chasers until my last contact with Amanda VK3FQSO. All up, not a bad activation with a total of 25 contacts logged. Create a free website. Create your own free website.

Bill Head VK3/VN-004 and Mt Bullfight VK3/VN-002. These two summits were on the planning list for awhile. Within striking distance of home and attractive because they are both worth 8 points plus winter bonus and are within range of each other within a day. The operating rock on Bill Head summit. Activated 8 September 2013. Near the Summit of Mt Bullfight. Some of the thicker bush that I had to penetrate to reach Mt Bullfight summit. Mt Bullfight operating spot. Now I just have to get the log to him! The weather was good, warm (approx 24c), slighty hazy but sunny. I searched the NSW national parks website. Just random technology ramblings. Using Windows for a week aaaagggghhhhhh! September 26, 2013. So this week I have the misfortune to be using Windows 7 on a company provided Toshiba laptop. Why is it so bad I hear you ask, let me give you some of my impressions. The OS is a fresh build but it is slower than my past 3 Macs, constant waiting is the order of the day. 5 Reboots&#...
Welcome
Welcome to VK3CRG.NET. I’m Craig Meddings and my QTH is the township of Lara, Victoria, Australia. I have recently moved from an apartment in Docklands in the Melbourne CBD to a larger property at Lara, about 14km out of the City of Geelong, Victoria, Australia. Having bought this new property, I’ve been able to put up a simple G5RV HF antenna which has allowed me to get onto the HF bands - something I could only do while portable when living in an apartment in the city.
