We grow ‘orange flesh’ sweet potatoes, soya beans, kidney beans, groundnuts and many different vegetables; primarily leafy greens rich in vitamins and minerals kales and spinaches, amaranthus, cowpeas. We have two coops of chickens local breeds and egg-layers. And the children have begun raising rabbits. Vumilia currently has 5 programs running:. As of June 2013 Vumilia is caring for 27 orphaned and vulnerable girl children, aged 4 to 17 years old at our home and farm in Bukhaywa village. Ensuring education up to tertiary/vocational level for 32 students: providing home schooling for 23 girls at primary level; sponsoring fees for 4 more at secondary level; and supporting 5 students at university/college. HIV/Aids Voluntary Counselling and Testing Clinic. Community Health and Medical Clinic.

Our girls returned to schooling this week, with our secondary students traveling to their boarding schools, and our primary students returning to their home-schooling classroom!
