Vista Park details added by Robert Kulp. The town’s decline began with the depression, as the natural resource-based industries were hardest hit. In addition, the building of the Ocean Beach Highway through Skamokawa in 1933-34 changed the focus of the town, once known as Little Venice , from the water to the road. The creamery was sold in 1943 and was closed.

Built in 1926. It served the area until Cathlamet and Skamokawa consolidated in 1967. Skamokawa school was torn down in 1974. It was situated at the North end of the park against what was once known as Moe Hill. Redmen Hall, still standing above SR4, was the original Skamokawa school. RV Park Camping in Vista Park. Water front are completely dry. Check the park map page for further details. The seven sites nestled in the trees have more than enough room for larger groups. They are close to our newest shelter that include a shower, restrooms and picnic area large enough for larger gatherings. Sites 27-33 from the group gathering area above them. Come walk on the beach on the Columbia River. And take a hike on our nature trail. Sites Make a reservation today. This area has access to WiFi.

Tent Camping in the Summer. Most sites in the park are open to. The exceptions are RV sites 27-33 and sites S1- S10. All other sites can be reserved for tent camping. We have large open fields that are used for overflow and large events. Sites are well shaded by many trees. Each site has new picnic tables, large fire pits and plenty of room for several tents. Most fire pits have barbecue grates for cooking over the fire. Are only 100 yards away. Are centrally located in this area.
