Help others by preparing your boat before you join the queue on busy days or as you progress towards the ramp, remember to keep your place by moving forward so others have plenty of room to join the queue and avoid congestion around the entrance to the reserve. Once launched quickly move your boat away from the bottom of the ramp to allow others access. Be patient, be polite. NO POWERING ON OR OFF TRAILERS.

History Waikawau Boat Ramp, Thames. Just south of Waikawau, Tapu had a large European settlement in the early days and the Thames to Coromandel Road saw growing use as farmland was developed along the coast. Much of the roading and building material used to develop early Auckland came off the shingle beaches of the Firth of Thames. For many years Winstones barged shingle to Auckland from Waikawau. At first the shingle was hand loaded by shovels and wheel barrows onto sailing barges.
